Save with dynamic electricity

Washing with dynamic hourly rates

With dynamic electricity, the electricity price changes during the day. You can benefit from this by adjusting your energy consumption to moments when the electricity price is low. Because electricity is more affordable when the sun is shining. And when it's windy. This way, you benefit right away when prices are lower, but you also pay a bit more when electricity is more expensive.

The hourly rate for electricity is based on the purchase price of electricity at that time. This way, you don't pay for the uncertainty of future electricity price developments. So, your hourly rate for electricity is lower on average than with a fixed electricity price.

As a Coolblue Energy customer, you can view your consumption and tomorrow's rates per hour in the Coolblue App.

Everything on dynamic energy

Dynamic energy

With dynamic energy, the rate for electricity and gas is based on the purchase price at the time of consumption. Are we generating more green energy in the Netherlands, for example? Your electricity rate will decrease. If you manage your energy consumption intelligently, you can save on costs.

The differences between a dynamic, fixed, and variable contract

Most people in the Netherlands are familiar with fixed and variable energy rates. With these types of contracts, your energy rate is fixed for a set time. For example, for a month or multiple years. With the arrival of the dynamic energy contract, we're seeing other properties. Our experts will tell you all about it here.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions Frequently given answers.
Frequently asked questions Frequently given answers.

What does my monthly amount look like with a dynamic energy contract?

Your monthly amount consists of your consumption and the hourly rates at the time of consumption. Your monthly amount varies per month, because it depends on how much you used and what the hourly rates were.

I have solar panels. How does that work with a dynamic energy contract?

Unlike fixed or variable contracts, you receive the current hourly rate for your feed-in with dynamic contracts. With fixed and variable contracts, you receive 2 predetermined rates for feed-in: this is either the same as your supply rate (up to total consumption in a year, this is called net-metering) or your feed-in tariff (above the net-metering limit).

What do you need to apply for a dynamic energy contract?

You need a readable smart meter. We need to know what you consumed per hour, so we can charge the right rate. A smart meter is also required to view your hourly consumption in an app or other environment. And that'll help you to use your consumption intelligently when the price is low.

Where can I find the overviews in the app and what do these overviews tell me?

In the Coolblue App, you'll find a heading with Coolblue Energy at the bottom right under 'profile'. Here, you can find the energy price per hour. In the overview, you can see when the energy price is lowest. You can see what tomorrow's prices will be a day in advance at 14:30. This way, you can plan your consumption in advance at times when the hourly rate is lowest.
