Frequently asked questions

Is my roof suitable for solar panels?

Most roofs are suitable for solar panels (90%). Whether you have a pitched roof or a flat roof, we have the right mounting system. Of course, it matters how how old your roof is and how it's positioned, because you'll want to take as much advantage of the sun as possible. That's why we always thoroughly research your roof and discuss your wishes by phone, so we can design the best solar panel roof for you.

What's the best setup for solar panels?
What warranty do solar panels have?

We offer a 10-year warranty on the installation of your solar panels. The warranty covers the functioning of the entire system. Did something break within the installation warranty period? We'll replace your solar panels, inverter, optimizer, and any parts of the cable route for free. The product warranty is different for each brand and type of product. For example, the warranty on the solar panels themselves is often longer than 10 years. We're happy to tell you more about this.

Can I also request solar panels for my company?

You can. View our page on solar panels for companies or send an email to zonnepanelen@coolblue.nl for the possibilities. Our advisors are happy to discuss plans for solar panels for your commercial property, project, or housing corporation.

Is it better to wait with solar panels?

You might have heard that solar panels are getting even cheaper and even better. Prices have dropped in recent years and solar panel manufacturers are working hard to improve the efficiency of solar panels. Still, we wouldn't recommend waiting. That's because the solar panels you can buy now already have a high return. And more importantly: the sooner you opt for a solar panel roof, the more you'll benefit from the net metering regulations. This'll be phased out from 2025, so that you can deduct less generated electricity from your energy bill. That's why it's a good idea to invest in solar panels right now.

How do I deduct electricity from my energy bill?

When we're installing your solar panels, you'll get an explanation from us on how to register your solar panel roof with your network operator. This doesn't take long. When your solar panels have been registered with your network operator, the network operator will inform your energy supplier and the settlement of the power you generate will start.

Doesn't producing solar panels generate more CO2 emissions than they save?

The production of solar panels costs energy of course, but much less compared to what they save. The CO2 payback period for the production, transport, and installation of solar panels is 2 to 3 years on average. With a lifespan of 25 years for a solar panel roof, you'll save way more CO2 than the production ever generated.
