With a Coolblue Backup Plan, you don't have to worry about accidents. We offer an extensive coverage, even for when you accidentally drop your new phone.

All under one roof

It's bad enough if your new purchase breaks. With a Backup Plan, we make sure your product will be repaired. We'll repair your phone within 2 hours in a number of our stores. Or you can ship us your defect product and we'll send it back repaired. Isn't repair possible? You'll receive CoolblueCredit from us to get a new product.

Credit when repairs aren't possible

When repairs aren't possible, you'll receive the replacement value via CoolblueCredit. For example, if the product can't be repaired or if the repair is more expensive than a new product. With CoolblueCredit, you can choose the new product you want yourself.

What's a Coolblue Backup Plan and how does it work?

Deductible

Does something happen to the product you've purchased at Coolblue? You'll have to pay a small deductible yourself with the Backup Plan. The amount depends on your plan and the value of the product. The deductible is at least €15 and €300 maximum. You can find the exact amount on the policy document and on the product page.

The difference between a Backup Plan and warranty

Our standard warranty only covers damage caused by manufacturing errors. The Backup Plan also covers other damage, like when you accidentally drop the product or if it breaks due to wrong usage.

What's not insured?

The Backup Plan doesn't cover all types of damage. This means you're not covered in case of dents, scratches, and other damages that don't necessarily affect the working of the product.

What's the difference between standard warranty and a Backup Plan?

The standard warranty only covers damage that occurs due to manufacturing errors. The Backup Plan also covers the damage that isn't covered by the standard warranty, like when you accidentally drop the product or it breaks due to wrong usage. The Backup Plan also covers damage due to manufacturing errors after the standard warranty period has passed. You can insure your product for theft too. This is included by default for some products. Check the product page of the product you want the Backup Plan for to see if this is the case for this product.

What's the difference in coverage with contents insurance?

If your product breaks due to water, fire, or a storm, the contents insurance often covers the repairs or replacement costs. Damage to your product caused by manufacturing errors, a fall, unintentional misuse, or theft are hardly ever covered by your contents insurance. You are covered for this with a Backup Plan. In addition, contents insurance often gives you the current market value, while you'll receive the replacement value with the Backup Plan. We recommend you to check the policy document to see what exactly is being covered by your contents insurance.

What's the difference in coverage between a Backup Plan and payment via credit card?

Most credit cards include purchase insurance for products paid for with your credit card. This insurance has coverage in case of theft, loss, or damage. There are some differences between the coverage of the Coolblue Backup Plan and credit card purchase insurance. With most credit cards, you're insured up to 6 months after purchase of the product. In addition, there's often a maximum compensation amount and you're often not insured in case of accidental misuse, like with mobile phones. What the differences are exactly differs per credit card company. Check the Terms and Conditions of your credit card so read the conditions.

Why isn't the Backup Plan available for my product?

At Coolblue, we don't offer a Backup Plan for every product. For example, if the product is part of a bundle with other products (like accessories) or with a Second Chance product. We also don't offer a Backup Plan for refurbished products, accessories, or products at a low price.

Can you return an insured product?

Yes. If you return an insured product within 30 days, we'll cancel the Backup Plan and you'll receive a refund for the paid premium. You can also cancel the Backup Plan without a reason during the 30-day satisfaction guarantee. We'll cancel the Backup Plan and refund the premium.
