What do you need to work at the office?
Business laptop or desktop
Business laptop: for ease-of-use on the go
A business laptop needs an extra sturdy case made from aluminum, magnesium, or even carbon fiber, for example. That way, your laptop won't get damaged as quickly when it falls. The processor and RAM depend on your work. For data analysis, you need other specifications than for photo editing and video editing. The minimum we recommend is an Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 processor with 16GB RAM. A business laptop always has Windows Pro as the operating system. This allows you to work in demanding programs more smoothly, ensures more privacy, and you can log in remotely.
Business desktop: for extra power
A business desktop is more powerful than a laptop, thanks to the larger components. That's useful for more demanding tasks, such as creating a powerful data server or 3D models. In addition to the components, you can also choose from different sizes. You can easily place a small business desktop behind your monitor with a VESA mount, so it doesn't take up any space on your desk. If you buy a desktop for the long-term, choose a larger tower. These towers can be expanded and offer extra space to replace your components. The business desktops also have Windows Pro as their operating system.
Business monitor
A business monitor offers comfort while you work. It's important that it's adjustable in height and has a blue light filter. That way, you work ergonomically and prevent strained eyes or a sore neck and back after a long working day. Also consider a USB-C port. You can use this port for your image signal, to transfer data, and often to charge your laptop or other devices as well. Make sure the screen is large enough as well. The larger the monitor, the more screen space you have. Make sure it still fits on your desk, of course.
Mouse and keyboard
Mouse: for scrolling through documents
With a mouse, you can scroll through your windows and programs more easily and faster than with the touchpad of your laptop. Which mouse you should choose, depends on your usage situation. If you work in spreadsheets often, you'll want a scroll wheel that allows you to move through the rows quickly. Or choose a vertical mouse for an extra ergonomic posture. You can also choose between a wired and wireless mouse. It's important to consider what you'll use the mouse for.
Keyboard: to type your documents
When you type documents, you want to do so comfortably. That's why you should choose an ergonomic keyboard with a wrist rest, for example. That way, your wrists will be in a natural position and you'll prevent RSI. For a business keyboard, we also recommend a numeric keypad. This allows you to easily enter numbers and formulas when you work in spreadsheets, for example. Also consider which keys you want and if you want to work wired or wirelessly. That way, you can comfortably type the entire day.
Docking station
With a docking station or cradle, you can easily expand the amount of ports for accessories and other devices. You'll then only need 1 cable to connect it to your laptop or desktop. That way, you can easily connect multiple monitors to your PC at the same time, or establish a stable internet connection via an Ethernet. Are you only looking for extra USB ports? Choose an USB hub. In addition to extra USB ports, these hubs often also have an Ethernet port for a stable connection.
Business printer
While we often work online and in the cloud nowadays, you still have to print something every now and then. A printer for the office needs a high print speed, so you can quickly print large files. We also recommend a laser printer. These use large toner cartridges instead of regular cartridges, which is more affordable. Do you mainly print photos and blueprints? Choose a photo printer. These often have 6 or more cartridges, so they can accurately print colors.
Norton antivirus software
With every laptop or desktop you buy via Coolblue, you also receive a year of Norton Security antivirus software for free. This way, you can protect your PC from viruses, spyware, and other online threats. Norton also marks all websites and automatically blocks harmful or suspicious pages and downloads. This makes sure a website can't download something on your PC and infect all connected computers. You also get a VPN and you store all your passwords in Password Manager. This way, you can easily keep your PC secure with Norton.
Other accessories
In addition to the most important components, we also recommend a couple of accessories. Consider a Microsoft Office license, so you can smoothly work in Word, Excel, and other Office programs. Want to store many documents in 1 spot with your colleagues? Choose a NAS to easily create a collaborative server. In addition to storing files, you can also create backups. That way, you won't lose important files. You could also get a webcam for online meetings, and office headset for calls, or a drawing tablet if you do a lot of creative work.
