Get started with the touchscreen of your iPhone
Doesn't your screen work or work properly? Try the tips below.
- Tip 1: clean the screen of your iPhone
- Tip 2: update or remove certain apps
- Tip 3: check your storage space
- Tip 4: return your iPhone to factory settings
Tip 1: clean the screen of your iPhone
Make sure the screen is free from dirt and that the surface is completely dry. Clean the device and screen with a lint-free cloth that can be slightly moist. Never use cleaning agents or window cleaner, because these can damage the screen of your iPhone.
Tip 2: update or remove certain apps
If your screen doesn't respond properly anymore, this can be caused by a specific app. Did the complaints start after you installed an app? Remove the app and see if your touchscreen works properly again. You can easily remove an app. Press the app icon with your finger for 2 seconds. Then tap 'Remove app'.
Tip 3: check your storage space
It's possible that your screen gets stuck when you have too little free storage space left on your iPhone. You can check this in 4 steps.
1: go to 'Settings'. 2: tap 'General'. 3: choose 'iPhone Storage'. 4: you can see what your storage is used for here. You can remove apps that you no longer use, clear out some photos, or store them in iCloud, for example.
Tip 4: return your iPhone to factory settings
-
Choose 'Erase All Content and Settings'
The problem can sometimes be solved by resetting your iPhone to factory settings. Always make an iCloud backup first, so you don't loose any data. Go to 'Settings' and tap your name > Go to 'iCloud' and tap 'iCloud Backup' > Select 'Back Up Now'. Wait for the device to finish making the backup. You can reset your iPhone to factory settings as follows:
- Open 'Settings' and go to 'General'.
- Choose 'Transfer or Reset iPhone'.
- Tap 'Erase All Content and Settings'.
- Tap 'Continue' and enter the access code of your iPhone. Wait for your iPhone to return to factory settings.
