Does your iPad indicate an error when you connect your accessories? Don't panic. In many cases, the problem is quick and easy to solve. Often, all you have to do is turn your devices off and on again. Here, we'll tell you how to solve connection problems with iPad accessories.

To decide how you can solve the connection problems with the accessories, we'll distinguish 2 types of accessories:

  • Accessories with a Bluetooth connection
  • Accessories with a wired connection

Solve connection problems with Bluetooth accessories

Can't manage to connect your Bluetooth device to your iPad? Go through the following steps:

Step 1: reset Bluetooth

First, reset Bluetooth.

  • Turn both your iPad and the accessory off and on again.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is activated on both devices.
  • Check if both devices still have enough battery life. Does your accessory have batteries? Replace them.
  • Make sure both devices are close together.

Does your device still refuse to connect? Try reconnecting it.

Step 2: reconnect Bluetooth devices

  1. Did you connect your accessories before? Disconnect them first. Go to Settings and tap Bluetooth. Now tap the info button and 'Forget This Device'.
  2. Switch your accessory to discoverable mode. You can check the manual of your accessory to learn how.
  3. Connect your accessory by selecting it from the list of Bluetooth devices.
  4. Still can't get it to connect? Contact the manufacturer of your accessory to make sure your iPad supports the accessory.
