Appearance

Tab A7: metal casing and 4 speakers

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 has a luxurious look thanks to the thin bezels and the sturdy metal casing. The tablet is slightly bigger than a standard A5 notebook. The 10.4-inch screen is large enough to comfortably watch movies and series, but the tablet still fits in your bag easily. The Tab A7 has Dolby Atmos speakers and produces a powerful sound for a mid-range tablet.

Tab A7 Lite: light and compact

After 2 years of absence, Samsung launches a new 8-inch tablet with the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. The Tab A7 Lite is a compact tablet with a plastic casing and an 8.7-inch screen. You can comfortably operate the tablet with one hand. With a 366g weight, the tablet is about as heavy as a can of soda. This makes the Tab A7 Lite a suitable tablet for on the go and a fine choice for a children's tablet.

Screen

Tab A7: 10.4-inch Full HD screen

The screen of the Galaxy Tab A7 is exactly what you can expect from an Android tablet in this price range. The 10.4-inch Full HD screen is suitable for most multimedia purposes, such as movies, basic games, and social media. If you're expecting entertainment in the highest quality, you're better off getting a device with a higher screen resolution. Tablets from the Galaxy Tab S series, for example.

Tab A7 Lite: 8.7-inch HD Ready screen

The Tab A7 Lite has an 8.7-inch screen with an HD Ready resolution. The last 8-inch Samsung tablet has a comparable screen resolution and was launched in 2019, the Tab A 8.0. That's why the screen quality of the A7 Lite isn't as good as that of the A7. The screen is good enough is you use it for reading, social media, or YouTube videos. If you use Netflix, we recommend a tablet with at least a Full HD resolution.

Performance

Tab A7: Octa-Core processor and 3GB RAM

The Samsung Galaxy A7 has a Snapdragon 662 Octa-Core processor and 3GB RAM. Most apps and games run smoothly on the tablet as a result. Screen tearing is possible with demanding 3D games if you use the highest graphic settings. The Tab A7 is available with 32GB or 64GB of storage. Choose the 64GB version or buy a memory card separately if you store many apps and files on your tablet.

Tab A7 Lite: same amount of RAM, only 1 storage versio

The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite has 3GB RAM as well. The Mediatek MT8768N Octa-Core processor has less processing power than the processor of the Tab A7. This makes the Tab A7 mostly suitable for everyday use, such as watching series, using social media, and playing light games. For now, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is only available with 32GB of storage. That's relatively little, as the operating system and the standard apps take up some GB of space. That's why a memory card is definitely nice to have.

Conclusion

The light and compact Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is a good choice if you're looking for a tablet for on the go or for your kids. Unfortunately, the screen quality isn't as good as that of the A7. Because of the larger, better screen and the 4 Dolby Atmos speakers, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is a better choice if you like watching a movie or series on the couch every now and then.
