The AutoDry ensures your laundry doesn't shrink with humidity sensors.
You can dry a small load of laundry in just 40 minutes with the superKort 40' cycle.
With a 63dB noise level, you can dry more silently than average and you're bothered by noise the least.
It doesn't have a self-cleaning condenser that's rinsed automatically during the drying cycle.
It exhausts 17% moisture, so it's less suitable for a small, unventilated room.
Description
The Bosch WTH8520CNL is a D energy label heat pump dryer that keeps your laundry in good condition longer thanks to AutoDry. The dryer stops automatically when your clothes are dry. That way, your new sweater doesn't shrink. With an 8kg load capacity, you can dry the bedding of 1 double bed or a stack of towels. Thanks to the low 63dB noise level, you can do this silently. You can choose from cycles for cotton, dress shirts, and gym clothes, for example. Dry a mixed laundry of cotton and synthetic with the cycle 'Mix', so you don't have to sort as much. If you're in a hurry, you can dry 1 or 2 shirts in 40 minutes. That's useful if you have to get to the gym on time.
Easy, intuitive operation/selection of drying programs
Good drying results, provided the correct program/settings are selected
Noise level above expectations
Good, attractive Bosch dryer. Like everyone who buys a dryer, I bought it in a hurry because my old one (a 2012 Bosch with a self-cleaning condenser) was broken.
Program selection is clear and easy to adjust with the dial.
The machine is very energy-efficient, 600 watts.
The matte black on the door is plastic, and the door itself is glass; I'm happy with its durability, but I didn't expect it to be this durable based on the photos.
The condenser filter is easy to clean; the dryer also indicates when it's time to clean it. My old dryer had a 90% solid plastic casing, which meant I couldn't do anything without a professional technician (so expensive that you'd be better off buying a new one), but also had no control over maintenance due to the "self-cleaning" feature. Less is sometimes more.
Small drawbacks:
Noise. The old Bosch dryer from 2012, a top-of-the-line model at the time, was much quieter, even though that model and this one should produce the same noise level based on their specifications. 64 dB.
In addition, unlike the old model, this appliance doesn't just make spinning noises; it seems to "weigh" the laundry, makes a lot of clicking sounds, and other noises we can't quite place. The dryer is in a separate room, but it's still more audible through the closed door in the living room than the old one. This will take some getting used to; we just wouldn't want to place/run this appliance near a bedroom. The appliance vibrates very little to not at all when spinning, but it does produce a higher-than-expected noise.
Additional settings under the touchscreen buttons, such as "cupboard dry +1, +2, +3," and "cupboard dry plus," are unclear as to what they do exactly; the manual doesn't provide any clarity on this either. The screen shows that the program takes a few minutes longer, but in practice, it often takes trial and error to find the right setting so the laundry comes out dry enough. So, initially, you'll have to adjust the setting, start the whole process again, and hope the sensor is fast enough to keep the second cycle as short as possible. Then, during the next cycle, you'll have to check if it can be done correctly the first time. Incidentally, the moisture sensor works well; it quickly and accurately shortens the cycles based on the amount of laundry, and with the right settings, the laundry comes out quickly and neatly dry.
Decisive purchase points for us:
glass door
interior light
drum rotates in both directions
easyclean instead of self-cleaning
energy-efficient
trusted Bosch quality (dryer itself, but also support available, spare parts available, etc.)
noise (although this was disappointing in practice)
