The Bosch hedge trimmer, EasyHedgeCut 18-45 Li, participates in the new development of many tool brands, namely the cordless/battery powered drive mechanism. Not included, but as a separate product, Bosch has a strong 18 V (volt) battery on the market. The battery has - as a big advantage - a battery with an anti-overheating mechanism: if the battery threatens to overheat during use, it switches itself into a lower activity mode. That is, the device it controls does not stop - as with many batteries - but that the performance is adjusted downwards; in plain Dutch, he will work less hard.
About the hedge trimmer, EasyHedgeCut, it is the light version of the Bosch range of hedge trimmers. Intended to easily perform relatively light cutting work. In other words, you can't cut trees with it (logically), but you can't cut down shrubs with really thick branches either. However, my ivy has quite thick branches. With some effort I got this "through". In other words, the device can handle heavier work. But I don't think the manufacturer intended it that way. Performance of "cutting" thick branches: satisfactory (more expensive hedge trimmers will be judged right).
An electric hedge trimmer like this weighs 2.7 kilos with battery. The battery weighs 0.38 kilos/380 grams. I used it immediately after purchase on a 10 meter long and 3.00 meter high ivy, which had grown considerably. After 3 hours of work I had heavy and hard forearm(s/) muscles. Verdict on the duration and difficulty of lifting the device: good.
The length of the knife part is 45 centimetres, quite long/finely long. Verdict length cutting edge: good.
The wirelessness is great: no longer the fear that you will cut the cord is a logical first pleasant experience. Verdict: good.
A slower "action" of the back and forth of the blades compared to a corded hedge trimmer (from a friend) is a logical and quickly getting used to: new and immediately connect the freshly charged battery and the device works with some short breaks 3 hours in a row; good, I think. Note on "longer ownership of the device": The slower back and forth of the blades is not disturbing as long as the blades are sharp and the job is done. In the longer term, it can become less sharp (when not sharpening) the blades have a disruptive effect!!!
Overall verdict: Device with working battery (purchase separately): Good!
The only lesser experience is the weight of 2.7 kilos. I have no comparison with other hedge trimmers. 3 hours with my own hedge trimmer I can say that after 3 hours I had hard forearm muscles, is not bad.
