Pros and cons

According to our mouse expert
  • Thanks to the Omron mechanical switches in the mouse buttons, you can be sure the mouse registers every click.
  • With a maximum 8000DPI, the mouse is suitable for various games.
  • You can use the 2 thumb buttons on the side for extra in-game functions, like a special attack in Overwatch.
  • You can only adjust the RGB lighting in the accompanying software.
  • Because you're always bound to a cable, you have less freedom of movement with a wired gaming mouse.

Description

With the CORSAIR Ironclaw RGB Gaming Mouse, CORSAIR focuses on FPS and MOBA players with larger hands and/or a preference for a palm grip. Thanks to the 18.000DPI optical sensor, you can quickly glide the wired gaming mouse over your desk during fast games. So you always accurately react in your game. The Omron mouse switches ensure an accurate click and lasts longer. You can program the 2 extra thumb buttons, so you react faster than your opponent when you switch weapons or perform a special attack. You connect this gaming mouse wired with the USB-A cable. This makes the mouse plug and play, so you can use it right away. You can even set the RGB lighting via the CORSAIR iCue software and choose between 16.8 million colors so your gaming mouse matches the rest of your setup.

A super cool mouse, but inconvenient if you have tics.

  • Easy to configure (with iCUE)
  • Fits nicely in the hand
  • Good quality
  • The scroller is quite sensitive

This mouse looks cool, is easy and effective to configure (although it needs iCUE for that). It fits well in my hand.

The biggest drawbacks I've experienced with this mouse are:
1. If you're a Touretter (like me) or something along those lines, this mouse is quite clunky associated with the middle mouse button (scroller) which seems to be very sensitive to (too) fast & repetitive clicks (probably because it doesn't well covered by the rest of the mouse).
I've had this mouse for 3 days now and the scroller is already starting to wear out.

2. I can imagine that, with small hands, this mouse can be a bit clumsy as it is quite a large size mouse.

Nice mouse, crappy software

  • Feels nice in the hand
  • Buttons adjustable
  • Cord is nice and long
  • Lousy software to color the lights (>1 Gb)

The mouse is fairly high and large, which I like. There is a place where I can put my thumb, and I can use the two thumb buttons. I really like the scroll wheel (I returned the Logitech G502 Hero because the scroll wheel hurt my arm). The mouse is very light, I like them a bit heavier. Overall, I like the mouse itself.
The included software is a disaster. Downloading and installing a package of more than 1 Gb to be able to set up the mouse is a bit excessive in my opinion.

How large is a mouse exactly? It's often difficult to see on a photo. That's why we thought of the thumb rule below.

Choose a mouse that takes up more than half of the surface of the dimensions of your hand. You can find the dimensions of the mouse under the specifications.

Your hands are often 2 times longer from your wrist to the tip of your middle finger than that it's wide from your little finger to the knuckle of your thumb. The closer the length and width a mouse come to 60% of the length and width of your hands, the more likely it is that the mouse feels comfortable in your hand.
