According to our drone expert
The Tello Drone (powered by DJI) is a starter model drone for both adults and children. With this drone, you can easily learn how to control and coordinate it. If you throw the drone into the air, it automatically starts flying. You can control the drone via a smartphone or tablet. Just tap the screen and have the drone perform stunts like a somersault. With the Scratch program, you can set movements the drone needs to perform in advance. This way, children learn programming in an accessible way. If you connect the Tello to a VR headset, it's as if you're flying along. Thanks to the sensors and protective parts, the drone can withstand drops and bumps. It uses the sensors to land safely when the battery runs out.
From 2021 onward, new European drone regulations apply. This means that drone pilots must register themselves if they own a drone that weighs more than 250 grams or has a camera. They'll receive an operating number that needs to be attached on your drone and clearly visible. This drone weighs less than 250 grams, so you don't need a course.

After a break I went back into drones and wanted to start with a simple but still quite serious drone. No €20 drone from, for example, the local toy store. I came across this Tello drone through youtube. Because it is powered by DJI, I had confidence in it right away and that has proved right. It flies very stable. Some people think it's because of the GPS, but the Tello doesn't have that at all. haha. The soil sensors are of extremely good quality. This allows it to fly stably. Even if there is some wind. Flying via your mobile works well, but sometimes you still miss the controller. No matter how cheap it is. I have currently ordered one of those touchscreen controller pads. Let's see if that removes the need for a controller (gamesir Td1 ala €40). The video signal stutters quite quickly and so do your recordings. Because they are stored directly on your mobile. Even at 6 meters on an open field you will quickly get hiccups. However, purchasing a simple USB WiFi repeater (€7) and power bank (€10) solves this video stutter and you get 2x more range (200m). You can connect the drone with an app other than the Tello app called DroneBlocks. With this app you can put together a series of puzzle pieces to create a series of commands that the Tello will then execute such as: ascend to 5 meters, turn 180 degrees. Descend 2 meters and flip forward then land. Very fun to play with. Battery is good for a 10 minute flight. I immediately ordered an extra battery and battery charger from Mr. Alie. This way I can charge 4 batteries at the same time instead of 1 that you charge by placing it in your drone and then connecting it to a USB adapter with a micro USB cable. You can land the drone on your hands or on the floor. Take-off is done by sliding a slider from left to right after pressing the take-off button. You can also take off with the trow and Go option. After activating the props will spin very weakly which is the sign for you to throw it. It will then automatically continue to ascend until the ascent level is reached. The drone can flip very easily in a special flip mode by simply swiping one side in the middle of your screen. And there are many other options.

great toys. For young and old. You can perfectly learn to fly before buying a “real” large (expensive) drone. DJI, so top quality and support for a reasonable price. The combo pack comes with 3 batteries, good for almost 45 minutes flying time! One more battery and you can fly non-stop (charging takes about an hour and 3 fit in the charging station at the same time). The batteries are charged 1 by 1 (the fullest first), so even with 3 batteries you only have to take a 15 minute break ;-)) Highly recommended! Top advice and service also from Coolblue.
