Which drones are for beginners?
A drone for beginners is compact in size, so you can easily take it with you. You can easily operate a beginner's drone with a remote or via your smartphone. The image quality of these drones is 4K resolution. That means you can record sharp footage. Starter model drones are the DJI Mini 3 or DJI Mini 4K, for example. You don't need a drone course for these drones.
How do I choose a drone for on vacation?
For vacations, we recommend a foldable drone of 250g at most. Examples are the drones from the DJI Mini series. You can easily put them in your backpack during a hike. Always check the drone regulations at your destination in advance. You can't fly a drone in every country. Are you taking your drone on the plane? Check the luggage regulations of the airline company as well, so you can safely take the battery of your drone with you. That way, you can take aerial footage of impressive landscapes and environments on vacation. That'll result in footage from an interesting viewing angle.
Do I need a drone license?
For drones that weigh less than 250g, you don't need a drone license. If your drone weighs more than 250g, you do need a drone license. You need to follow a mandatory drone course for this. There are 2 different drone courses: basic (A2) and basic light (A1/A3). On the product page of a drone, you can always read which course you need.
Do I have to register my drone?
You're required to register every drone. You need to request an operator registration number at the RDW for a fee. You'll receive a sticker with the operator registration number from them and stick it on your drone. You always need to broadcast the operator registration number during a flight as well. You can fill in the number via the app and the drone automatically broadcasts it.
Can I fly a drone everywhere?
As a drone enthusiast, you want to send your drone to the sky as soon as possible. We completely understand, but there are some areas in the Netherlands where you can't fly. These so-called no-fly zones are indicated on the GoDrone maps with different colors. In this article, we'll explain what the colored fly zones mean for you as a drone pilot.
How high can you fly with a drone?
According to the European regulations, you always need to be able to see your drone. This means you can't fly too high or too far away. For the safety of the airspace, a maximum 120m height always applies. It doesn't matter which drone you have. Do you see other air traffic, like a helicopter or plane? Land your drone right away.
