What's an infrared panel and what can you use it for?

If you want to heat more sustainably, choose an infrared panel. An infrared panel is the most energy-efficient electric heating. We'll tell you what an infrared panel is and how it's different from other electric heaters. Lastly, we'll tell you how much energy and money you save. Win-win.

What's an infrared panel?

An infrared panel is an electric heater that you can use as extra heating. The panel heats with radiation heat, so it's different than other electric heaters. With the radiation heat, you can easily heat a specific place such as a work place.

The radiation heat is comparable to the heat you feel when you're in the sun. Do you walk away from the heat panel? The heat is also gone. Switch off the panel if you're not in front of it, or you'll use energy unnecessarily. In the video by Iris, you can learn a lot more about the advantages of an infrared panel.

Why an infrared panel

With an infrared panel, you can turn off the main heating in smaller rooms and lower it in larger rooms. The panel heats you and the items around it. This way, you don't heat up all air in the room which you do with a radiator or other electric heater. In addition, the panel is warm right away when you turn it on. This way, you're not cold for a moment and you won't consume unnecessary energy.

How energy-efficient is an infrared panel?

When the radiator is turned off in smaller spaces, you save 60m3 gas per radiator per year. The panel consumes around 100kWk per year. This way, you quickly save € 47 per year per room.

Don't want to turn off the radiator completely, because you get too cold in your larger rooms? Choose a combination between your main heating and extra heating. Turn down the main heating 1 or 2°C. This way, you can save 140m3 gas per year. Combined with an infrared panel, you won't be cold for a moment.
