4 tips to save energy with your lighting
Light in the dark
You only use your lamps when it gets dark, or when you can't see something well. Use these tips to reduce the energy consumption of your lighting.
- Tip 1: replace your old bulbs with LED
- Tip 2: turn off the light in rooms you're not in
- Tip 3: use daylight
- Tip 4: set a timer
Tip 1: replace your old bulbs with LED
This tip might be the most obvious. Incandescent and halogen light bulbs are large energy consumers. When you replace 24 incandescent bulbs with LED, you can save about € 35 annually. LED lights also last much longer.
Tip 2: turn off the light in rooms you're not in
Even if you're only gone for a little but. It's a waste to leave the lights on when you don't profit from it. When you leave the house in the morning, check if you've turned all the lights off. That's efficient.
Tip 3: use daylight
Places that get daylight don't need artificial light during the day. Have curtains in front of your window? Open them. Also think about the placement of your desk, for example. Place it near your window so you won't have to turn on your lights as quickly.
Tip 4: set a timer
The living room has lamps that you use often. Think of when you watch television at night or are reading the newspaper. With a time switch, you can set up exactly when the lamp turns on and off. That way, you adjust your energy consumption to your rhythm.
