You need a smart meter
With a dynamic energy contract, we look at your energy consumption per hour so you pay the right rates. We can easily read this remotely via a smart meter.
If you don't have a smart meter, request one from your network operator.
Your installment amount is different every month
Do you have a dynamic energy contract with us? Your installment amount will differ every month. That's because the amount varies along with your consumption and energy rates. Keep this in mind when you take out a dynamic energy contract. You won't pay an advance on your energy consumption like with a fixed or variable contract. Some energy suppliers do have a fixed installment amount if you have a dynamic contract.
Net-metering and feeding in works differently
Do you have solar panels? You'll have the same rate for generated energy and consumed energy. That's why you sometimes receive less for a kilowatt-hour you generate in the afternoon than you pay for the same kilowatt-hour later that day with a dynamic contract.
Are the energy prices in the negatives? Turn your solar panels of. That way, you won't have to pay for feeding in energy. Because you don't net-meter everything with a dynamic contract, a fixed contract might sometimes be more beneficial than a dynamic contract.
A negative energy rate
We have many solar panels and windmills in the Netherlands. If they all generate a lot of energy at the same time, the grid becomes overloaded. This causes a negative energy rate. In that case, the price is below € 0. Use as much energy as possible at those times, as you'll then pay almost nothing or even earn money.
Keep in mind that you still have to pay energy taxes, VAT, and purchasing costs when there's a negative energy rate. That means you can earn money with negative hourly rates if the energy rate is lower than the taxes and purchasing costs you pay.
You don't pay a risk premium
If you have a fixed or variable contract, the risk premium is included in the agreed upon rate. That's because we prepare for increasing rates with these types of contracts. With a dynamic contract, you don't pay for this. You pay for the current rate, so you take the risk yourself. Because you don't pay a risk premium, you can also save energy with a dynamic contract when the energy rates go up.
You can combine dynamic energy with variable or fixed gas
With Dynamic Hourly Rates from Coolblue Energy, you only receive dynamic energy. You can choose a variable or fixed contract for gas. We don't offer dynamic gas contracts. We chose not to do this as the gas rates are less predictable. Thanks to this combination, you can profit from the cheapest moment for your energy consumption and have the security of fixed rates for gas.
