Do you have a closet with winter and summer clothes? Put your winter clothes away when the temperature rises.

  1. Get all your outfits out and do a spring cleaning.
  2. Clean all shelves with soapy water and vacuum the bottom of your closet.
  3. Wash your winter clothes, such as thick jackets and sweaters, according to the care label on the inside.

  5. Repair, sell, or take the clothes you don't wear anymore to the thrift store.

Tip 2: freshen up your spring and summer clothes

Freshen up clothes

Only put clothes that you wear regularly back in your closet. Freshen up your laundry before you do this. There are several ways to do this:

  1. Hang your laundry outside and let it air on a clothes dryer, for example.
  2. You can also do this on the balcony or if you live smaller: on a rack in the bathroom.
  3. Use the freshen up cycle of your washing machine and add fabric softener or scented pearls.
  4. Does your washing machine have a separate steam function? Use it to remove musty odors.
  5. Don't forget to clean your washing machine regularly. This'll keep your laundry fresh.

Tip 3: sort all the laundry and hang it back

  1. Sort your laundry by garment type, length, and color.
  2. Fold all clothing and place in neat piles in your closet.
  3. Hang laundry that wrinkles easily, such as shirts, on a hanger.
  4. For a fresh smell, put some scented bags in your closet.

Tip 4: clean your sneakers

Dirty sneakers

For an extra fresh closet, clean your sneakers too.

  1. Put your laces in a tub of water with some soapy water for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Soak white laces in a tub of water with a teaspoon of bleach for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Rinse your laces well. Note: be careful not to spill bleach on your clothes.
  4. Remove the most stubborn dirt from your shoes with a damp cloth.
  5. Polish the soles with an old toothbrush and toothpaste.
  6. Wet the remaining parts of your shoe with a sponge and a splash of vinegar or green soap.
  7. Put a wad of newspaper or baking sheet in your sneakers to dry them faster on a clothes rack.

Tip 5: treat your jeans separately

Jeans

Delicate clothes such as jeans require a special treatment. It's best to air these outside. Prefer to wash them? Do this as follows:

  1. Check the washing instructions on the label inside.
  2. Turn your laundry inside out and empty pockets.
  3. Wash your clothes by hand or in the washing machine at a maximum of 30°C.
  4. Always wash your jeans separately and don't use too much detergent.
  5. Close zippers and buttons to prevent damage.
  6. It's best not to put your jeans in the dryerm dry them on a clothes rack.
