Tip 3: reset the video settings
Tip 1: change the video format
-
Choose the option 'Format'
-
Choose a video format
-
You'll see more options under 'Other Formats'
The first option you'll see in the menu is 'Format'. There's a list of video formats in the menu that your television supports. With video format, we mean the combination of resolution, dynamic range, and frame rate. The format '1080p HDR 50Hz' means a Full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels), an HDR color gamut, and a 50Hz refresh rate, for example. For the best possible image settings for your TV, choose the first option in the list. At the bottom of the list, you'll see the option 'Other Formats'. There, you'll find video formats that aren't as common.
Tip 2: match the dynamic range and the frame rate
-
Choose 'Match Content'
-
Match the dynamic range and the frame rate
Under 'Match Content', you'll see 2 options. If you turn on the options 'Match Dynamic Range' and 'Match Frame Rate', the Apple TV automatically adjusts the dynamic range and the frame rate to the video you're watching. If you're watching a movie with Dolby Vision and a frame rate of 30Hz, the Apple TV automatically adjusts these settings, for example. That way, you don't have to go back to the settings to select the right image quality every time.
Tip 3: reset the video settings
Did something go wrong with the image settings? Is the image too dark or do the colors look strange? With the option 'Reset Video Settings', you can reset the video settings to what the Apple TV has selected for your television. This way, you can be sure that all the settings are suitable for your TV.
