In the video, we'll explain step by step how to descale your coffee machine. These are the steps we'll go through:
- Step 1. Prepare the machine for descaling and start the descaling program.
- Step 2. Start the first rinse.
- Step 3. Start the second rinse.
You need:
- De'Longhi EcoDecalk descaler
- 2L container
How often should you descale?
You only have to descale your De'Longhi once every 2 to 3 months, as long as you replace the water filter in time. That's because the water filter prevents a large part of the limescale. Don't have a water filter? Keep in mind that you'll have to descale your machine more often. How often depends on the hardness of your tap water and how many cups of coffee you make each day. The EcoDecalk descaler from De'Longhi is best suited for the parts of your coffee machine.
Step 1: start the descaling
Descale the machine when the display notifies you that it's time to do so. To start descaling, press 'OK' and follow the instructions from point 4. Press 'Escape' to postpone the descaling to a later time. You'll see a symbol on the display as a reminder that you have to descale the machine.
- Turn on the machine.
- Press the settings button and use the arrow keys to go to 'Maintenance' and press 'OK'.
- Use the arrow keys to navigate to 'Descaling' and press 'OK' and confirm by pressing 'OK' again.
- Remove the water tank and water filter and empty the tank. Then press 'OK'.
- Pour the descaling agent into the water tank up to level 'A' and top up with water up to level 'B'.
- Replace the reservoir and press 'OK'.
- Empty the container and coffee grounds container, put them back in, and press 'OK'.
- Place a 2L container under the hot water nozzle and the coffee spout and press 'OK'.
- The machine now starts the descaling process. This takes about 25 minutes.
Step 2: start the first rinse
- Remove and empty the water tank. Rinse it clean with tap water.
- Fill the water tank to the 'max' level with tap water and put it back in the machine and press 'OK'.
- Empty the container placed under the coffee machine and place it back in the machine, press 'OK', and confirm again with 'OK'.
- The machine will now start rinsing.
Step 3: start the second rinse
- When the water tank is empty, empty the container
- Remove the water tank, fill to the 'max' mark with water, and press 'OK'.
- Put the water filter back in the water tank if you previously removed it, put the water tank back in, and press 'OK'.
- Place the empty container back under the hot water nozzle and press 'OK'.
- Confirm by pressing 'OK' again. The second rinse will start.
- Press 'OK' when the descaling process is complete.
- At the end of the second rinse, remove the container and the coffee grounds container. Empty them and put them back. Press 'OK'.
- Empty the container, remove and fill the water tank to the 'max' level, and place it back in the machine.
- The descaling process is now complete.
