Expert review Samsung QLED Q64B
Samsung QLED Q64B
- Thanks to the QLED panel and the 4K resolution, you can enjoy sharp images with bright color tones.
- With the thin Air Slim Design, the TV will fit seamlessly into your interior.
- The Solarcell One Remote is a remote that charges itself with both sunlight and artificial light.
- Due to the 50Hz refresh rate, fast-moving images aren't always displayed smoothly.
First impression of the Q64B
When I first look at the Q64B, I directly notice the thin design. The screen stands on 2 leg stands, which leave enough room for a soundbar. The leg stands are adjustable. The television includes the Solar One Remote, just like all the other televisions from the series. This remote doesn't use batteries, because it charges itself via sunlight or artificial light.
Vibrant colors and many details
Just like its predecessor, the Q64B has a QLED screen. This image technique consists of tiny particles that allow the right color tones through very accurately. Thanks to this, the bright yellow and green colors of the demo pop on the screen and the Samsung demo comes out really well. The peak brightness of 1000 nits isn't the brightest from the 2022 series, but it does make the bright colors on the screen come to life. Colors pop even more on the screen of models with a higher peak brightness.
Deep contrast and a good viewing angle
The QLED screen of the Q64B has the Dual LED technique. Thanks to this, the screen displays a rich contrast and a wide viewing angle. I notice the contrast while watching images of a cave. It's very black inside the cave, while the surrounding images are displayed very bright and colorful. While I slowly walk towards the corner of the screen and keep my eyes on the TV, I notice that the colors become duller and the screen becomes slightly less visible.
Thin design and stylish leg stands
The screen of the television is very thin at 27mm. The minimalist, black design easily blends in with various interiors. The television stands on 2 stylish and adjustable leg stands. They leave enough room for a soundbar. In my opinion, the thin design of the TV comes out best if you hang this television on the wall. Thanks to the cutouts on the back, you can hang the TV almost flat against the wall with a wall mount.
Reliable sound experience
While watching different content of athletes, I notice that the sound isn't great, but not bad either. Thanks to Object Tracking Sound Lite, the sound follows the motions on the screen. I can hear the sound moving along with the motions of the water on the screen. Compared to the Neo QLED models, this 'lite' version is a little disappointing. For a truly immersive sound experience, I recommend you to connect a soundbar to the Q64B. The Q-Symphony technique combines the sound of a Samsung soundbar with the speakers of the television for a room-filling sound. The sound quality is good enough for watching television shows and talkshows.
Useful remote on solar power
The Solar One Remote is a clear and useful remote. Thanks to the solar cells, the remote charges via artificial and daylight. Great, because you won't have to buy batteries anymore. The remote only has a couple of buttons. This makes it very clear while you can still navigate through all the options on the screen fast. You'll be in the menu of apps like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime with just a touch of a button. Besides all the useful functionalities, the remote also feels very comfortable in my hand.
Conclusion
The Q64B is the most minimalist QLED television by Samsung of 2022. This television still meets all the basic requirements for a qualitatively good QLED television. The Q64B displays images with a deep contrast and bright, colorful images. Thanks to the 4K resolution, these images are razor-sharp. The sound isn't overwhelming, so I do recommend an external soundbar. You'll have a better experience if you pay a little extra, but the Q64B is still an excellent QLED television for regular use.
