When don't you need a permit?
In most cases, you don't need a permit for a new solar roof. You don't need it if you meet the following requirements:
- The solar panels will be placed on a pitched roof.
- The panels follow the incline of the roof.
- The solar panels don't stick out beyond the pitched roof surface.
- With a flat roof, the solar panels are placed at least 1m from the roof edge.
- The solar panels will be placed on a house or an outbuilding.
When do you need a permit?
Sometimes, you do need a permit. This includes the following situations:
- The solar panels will be placed on a monumental building.
- Your house is part of a protected townscape or cityscape.
- The solar panels will be placed in a special location, such as a nature reserve.
How do you request a permit?
If you need a permit, you can request an environment and planning permit from the municipality. You usually do so online via the Omgevingsloket. Make sure you have the required documents at hand, such as the blueprint or a sketch. Your municipality will judge your application and will let you know if you'll get the permit within a couple of weeks.
