Buy, loan, or rent solar panels?
Buy solar panels
In this article, we'll tell you about the following ways you can buy solar panels:
- Loan from the Nationaal Warmtefonds
- Loan from the SVn
- Loan from the bank
- Own capital
- Rent solar panels
Energy savings loan from the Nationaal Warmtefonds
Do you want solar panels, but don't want to pay for them all in one go? Apply for a loan for solar panels from the Nationaal Warmtefonds. This allows you to pay all of the costs for your solar roof, without interest. This depends on your maximum income limit. Note: you can't take out this loan from Coolblue Energy, but you can apply for it via the Nationaal Warmtefonds.
We've listed everything here:
- You can borrow an amount between € 1000 and € 27,000.
- The loan may cover 100% of the costs.
- You must submit the application before the installation day.
- Depending on your income limit, you won't have to pay interest.
- There's no maximum age limit.
Sustainability loan from SVn
Some municipalities or provinces offer an SVn sustainability scheme. The interest rate for this is 1.6%. Other extra conditions may apply to you. You can check this with your municipality. Note: you can't take out this loan with Coolblue Energy, but have to apply for it via SVn.
We've listed everything here:
- You can borrow between € 2000 and € 25,000, depending on your municipality.
- For a loan up to € 7499, the term is 10 years.
- For a loan from € 7500, the term is 15 years.
- Your municipality determines which conditions apply to you. Check this with your municipality.
- One of the applicants has to be younger than 76 years old.
Bank loan
Most banks also allow you to take out a loan for your solar panels. You'll pay the interest that applies at that time. This interest rate is between 4 and 8%. Do you have a mortgage with the bank? You can increase the mortgage, for example with a construction deposit.
We've listed everything for you here:
- You can borrow up to 106% of the value of your home.
- The gross annual income of your household is at least € 33,000.
- You'll have to pay between 4 and 8% in interest, depending on your bank.
Own capital
You can also pay for solar panels with your own capital. This is convenient if you have enough savings. This means that you're the owner of your solar panels right away, and you're not tied to a loan. With some suppliers, you can also pay for solar panels in installments. You'll still pay for the solar panels with your own funds, but not in one go. This isn't possible at Coolblue Energy yet.
Rent solar panels
You can rent solar panels from some organizations. You'll then pay a fixed amount every month. We strongly advise against this. You'll easily pay 50% more than if you pay for solar panels with your own capital or with a loan. In addition, you're tied to a contract and the value of your home doesn't increase. That's why it's not possible to rent solar panels from Coolblue Energy.
