    Description

    With a Nuki Smart Lock, you use your smartphone as a key. The lock recognizes you and opens automatically. You can also give guests access at specific times with the Nuki app. The lock is easy to install, because you place the Nuki lock on top of your current lock. The Nuki lock then truns the key for you. If you also want to unlock the lock remotely, you have to connect the lock to your Nuki Bridge or buy the Nuki Smart Lock Pro. The Nuki lock runs on 4 AA batteries. You can connect the smart door lock to your smart home via Matter.

    The addition of Matter is truly a game changer

    I returned an earlier Nuki model, which was too dependent on Bluetooth or an extra WiFi bridge. That is now a thing of the past, because with the addition of Matter-via-Thread you can easily connect the lock to a smart home system. In this case HomeKit. Pairing was easy, you follow the steps within the Nuki app and in no time you have added your lock and can get started with automations within HomeKit. Please note: Auto Unlock, for example, does not work directly within HomeKit, but it does work within the Nuki app. There are plenty of workarounds to enable auto unlock within HomeKit and it works great. Battery status is still at 100% after a week of use, so I think these batteries will last a long time. Then we will probably switch to the Nuki Power Pack, or to rechargeable batteries. All in all, I am very satisfied: definitely not the cheapest lock, but the most reliable and the addition of Matter will make it difficult for the competition to dethrone Nuki.

    Great product for a fair price

    • Battery life can be adjusted in the app
    • Replacing or adjusting a cylinder lock does not work with the supplied material
    • If you don't have a Nuki bridge, you only have a Bluetooth connection, but that wasn't an issue

    I have liked the product since generation 1, now moving to generation 4 and see so many improvements in the app, which makes it even easier to install and operate the lock and accessories.
