After using the Garmin Edge 800 with the standard mount for a while, I was looking for a different way of mounting as the readability of the display sometimes left something to be desired, especially in sunny weather.
First my eye fell on the Garmin Bar Fly, then on a mount from Sram, but in my opinion both had one drawback: the straight line of the mount kept the Edge at the same height as the stem of my mountain bike. I personally didn't think it was a real improvement.
In the end I chose the Edge Out-Front Mount as it could be mounted slightly "lower" than other mounts with its slight sag.
The order went smoothly: around 8 hr order placed, approx. 11 hr packing confirmation, approx. 18 hr shipping confirmation and the next day around 11.30 hr package in the bus. So very fast delivery.
The package contains both the mount and an extra rubber ring so that the mount can be mounted on any handlebar with a maximum diameter of 31.8 mm. After all, the installation is ready in less than 2 minutes. The only material needed is an Allen key.
After mounting, the visibility is indeed a lot better, especially since you can determine the angle of inclination of the mount yourself. Another positive point is the fact that there are a few holes in the mount at the bottom, making the sound (eg beeps during navigation) a lot more audible, which was not always the case with the original mount of the Edge.
Finally, the Edge is more secure in this mount than in the original mount, which is noticeable when changing the screen. While the original mount sometimes dared to shift a bit, with this mount it is firmly fixed.
Conclusion: a big improvement!
