RØDECaster Video

The Rodecaster Video is a mixer with many possibilities, which allows me to make the podcast completely to my liking. It takes me a whole afternoon to understand how the mixer works.

Auto switching
I find the auto switching function very useful. I set this up on my computer with the Rode Central program. I connect one camera to a sound source. I connect the other camera to the other sound source. This way, the mixer automatically switches to the image where the sound comes from.

Scenes
I set 3 different scenes with buttons A, B and C. I set this in the Rode Central program. This way, I get the scene I want during the recording with one push of a button. I set button A to see 2 different images next to each other on the screen with a background.

Simple design
The design of the Rodecaster Video is simple and clear. I only see the buttons that are connected to a video source light up. I also use the touchscreen screen so that I can see the full menu. Due to the minimalist design, it takes me a while to figure out how the mixer works.

Many connections
The mixer has various connections. This allows me to connect my computer, headphones and microphones in various ways. I connect a screen via the HDMI outputs where I see a preview of the image. I like this, so that I know what the end result looks like. I see this in the Rode Central program.

Image quality
The mixer supports 1080 pixel image quality. I don't find this a problem.
