Pros and cons

According to our robot vacuum expert
  • Thanks to the vibrating mopping function, the robot vacuum also easily removes stains from your floor.
  • The built-in sensors recognize objects and remove them, so that the robot doesn't get stuck.
  • You can easily control this robot via your smartphone and also set a cleaning schedule in there.
  • Because the robot vacuum doesn't have an automatic emptying station, you need to clean the dust cup yourself.
Product Expert robot vacuums

Description

The Philips HomeRun 7000 Series Aqua XU7000/02 vacuums and mops your floor in 1 movement. Because the mop vibrates, it removes stains from your floor more easily. The ultrafine fibers remove 99.99% of bacteria. Thanks to the sensors on the robot, it avoids objects. Even small ones of 2x2cm. The sensors also work with little light. You can set a cleaning schedule via the HomeRun robot app. In here, you can choose what route the robot vacuum takes through your house. You can also adjust the cleaning to the room. For example, the robot mops the kitchen right away, but it only vacuums in your bedroom. The robot has a battery life of 180 minutes after 1 charge. The 240ml water tank is large enough for 130m2 of mopping without refilling it.

Solid innovative robot vacuum cleaner, with mwah mopping fun

  • Good app and easy setup
  • robot makes a floor plan of the living room
  • fast and efficient vacuuming/mopping
  • Mopping is good for maintenance but not for real stains

Small disclaimer in advance, I have no previous experiences with other robot vacuum cleaners. My findings relate to robo-vacuum cleaners in general as well as to this specific product.

Vacuuming is a frequent and necessary evil with small children, and we absolutely hate mopping. A good reason to switch to a robot vacuum cleaner. In the few weeks we have used it we have been very satisfied with it, but there are a few ifs/buts. First of all, the robot comes in a nice box, with not too much plastic packaging material. I really like that these days. It comes with an instruction booklet with extensive details, but also a brief visual overview of how to set up the robot. Connecting to Wi-Fi works well, without disruptions and the App is user-friendly. The robot (the children call her 'Roos') has a small charger but needs 0.5 meters of space on the left and right to automatically reach the 'charging station'. I must admit that I don't find Roos very attractive, so I'm looking for a spot out of sight where she can still reach. The charging station also comes with an obscure large round sticker for the ground. However, the Robot does not seem to need this (fortunately).

As for the qualities of the Robot itself: You have to make a virtual floor plan of the living room (or any room) before the Robot can get started for the first time. Based on this map, you can also set where the Robot may or may not go: very useful. Our living room of approximately 60m2 is then vacuumed and mopped in 15 minutes. Vacuuming goes very well, mopping feels more like a maintenance job, plus no soap is allowed in the robot. So just mop with water. For example, some sticky stains from food splashes are not scrubbed away. That said, I still do it by hand with all my love. We walk indoors without shoes, so our living room will need a little less in general. However, I can imagine that in other living rooms, where people wear shoes, a more thorough mopping is necessary.

In other words, the robot has a hefty price, for our use case it is worth it, but if you need just a little more mopping power than this, you could suffice with a cheaper model without a mopping function.

Never vacuum the floor yourself again

  • vacuuming and mopping
  • smart: zones in the house in combination with app
  • few collisions with furniture
  • sometimes gets stuck on loose cables and laces

After using a robot vacuum cleaner from another brand for a while, we expanded our set with the Philips HomeRun. The Philips HomeRun is always on the ground floor and serves the kitchen and living room there. Because we have PVC laminate, it is very nice that this robot vacuum cleaner can also mop directly in addition to vacuuming. This means we rarely have to clean the floor ourselves. Charging is fast and he is smart enough to return to the charging point after every lap, so he drives his lap every day. The water reservoir is too small to mop once a day, so we only do that when we remember. The app works conveniently and you can set zones. If we have some crumbs in the kitchen, we only let the robot vacuum cleaner do an extra round in that zone. We have set the robot to clean daily when we are not there. It does make some noise, but less than a normal vacuum cleaner with a bag. In terms of looks, I expected more premium materials, it looks cheaper because of the plastic. But the cleaning capabilities and software via the app are premium. I am very happy that we went for this one!

Excellent mop vacuum cleaner robot

  • Maps the spaces well
  • Easy to set zones
  • Automatically returns to charging station when almost empty
  • Small water reservoir

Excellent mop and vacuum cleaner robot. The robot maps the floor well. First we had raised all the furniture such as dining table chairs so that he had a fairly empty floor. After this, he recognizes well if the chairs are at the table and will then also try to make school under the table. You have to make sure that shoes with laces or bags with straps are gone because he "eats" them and then gets stuck. The robot vacuum goes well under the sofa and it also goes well over coffee tables with a small raised edge, so it can also vacuum under the coffee table. It recognizes very well if there is a carpet or floor mat and then automatically starts vacuuming harder. Our ground floor consists entirely of tiles, but with the water tank at full capacity, he just doesn't manage to mop the entire floor. Furthermore, it is an excellent vacuum cleaner and mopping robot.
