Wireless convenience

  • turning force
  • Ease of use

My previous hammer drill gave up before and I was in the middle of a major DIY project. We are redecorating all our bedrooms because the children have outgrown the current layout. We secretly also so our room is also taken right away. So it was important that I find a good replacement. That's how I came across the Uneo Maxx cordless hammer drill from Bosch. On paper it seemed like the right product for my projects around the house, but that had to be confirmed, because I've often returned stuff to buy another one.

The floors, ceilings and exterior walls of our house are reinforced with reinforced concrete. An ordinary drill does not have the turning power to get through this. I found out the hard way a long time ago when the tip of my drill bit was melted by the heat generated when drilling a simple hole. From that moment on I switched to rotary hammers and they go through everything effortlessly. But all good things come to an end because after years of intensive use, something had burned out in the engine.
During this time I saw that these kinds of tools are continuing a nice evolution. One of the drawbacks of those rotary hammers is that the power wire is always in my way and/or too short. That goes doubly if you use it on the ceiling. I became quite happy when I found out that I can use a wireless variant. And indeed, what a convenience. The device is also not heavy at all and you soon get used to the fact that you can reach everything at once. Admittedly it doesn't offer the turning power as some wired hammer drills but for my house it's fine (so far). The battery lasts quite a long time, regardless of which mode I use. Long enough for a day of drilling holes, and afterwards you can charge the battery again immediately. I know the batteries charge relatively quickly and I can always use an 18v battery from one of my other Bosch tools. That is certainly an advantage.

But it is a combin device, so in addition to drilling, it is also suitable as an electric screwdriver. Given the turning force, you can't complain about this. It is larger than a conventional electric screwdriver, but because it fits well in the hand you will notice little discomfort when holding it. This is ideal as an amateur handyman, because it saves buying extra tools and space in your shed or storage room. A big advantage compared to an electric screwdriver is that this Bosch has an SDS coupling piece. No more manual turning when switching between drills and bits. This makes me really happy.

In summary, I can say that I am very happy with this product. I do a lot of work at home which involves a lot of drilling and screwing. I'm going to have a lot of fun with the Uneo Maxx.

For the average handyman!!! not for professionals..

  • LED-lighting
  • powerful pneumatic hammer
  • light weight
  • tilts over when using the quick-release chuck

I bought this BOSCH UNEO MAXX last month. I was looking for an easy-to-use screw-drill machine for all jobs in and around the house. The 18-volt PNEUMATIC cordless hammer drill comes with a quick-release drill chuck so that 'normal' bits and drills can also be attached to the drill chuck, in addition to the handy SDS accessories. The pneumatic hammer function works very well for smaller holes in the wall, you really notice the difference in sound and performance, unfortunately the head can handle a maximum of 10mm drill, which makes it not the best in its segment. A handy feature is that you can simply attach the 18V battery to other BOSCH machines and exchange the batteries among each other. I used this machine to drill smaller (8mm) holes in a brick wall. (Placing roof battens for a new wooden cladding) Of course this was no problem for this machine. The battery lasted a long time and with an extra LED lighting, mounted at the bottom of the machine, it makes itself very user-friendly and gave light exactly where it was needed. It has a good grip and is quite lightweight. The average handyman will certainly love this machine !!
However, I couldn't control the speeds anywhere. The downside is that if you use the quick-release chuck with a good bit, the machine is completely out of balance and you can no longer simply place it on the table with the bottom of the machine. The weight is no longer evenly distributed, so you always have to put it on its side. Several times I just put him on the table and he just fell forward right on the bit. The conclusion is that I am certainly happy with this powerhouse for the average handyman, not for the professional user.

Handy drill for average jobs around the house

  • Handy (light and cordless)
  • Useful for different types of drilling jobs
  • Power for All battery system
  • SDS quick concrete drills for hammer drill position not included

After years of borrowing drills from friends and family, I finally bought one myself. I chose this one because it is a cordless drill and a hammer drill. Happy with my choice so far! I was a bit worried in advance about whether it would really get through my concrete walls, but it works fine. A bit slower than my father's wired Hikoki (with which you only have to point at a wall and there is a hole in it), but that is actually nice: the slower pace gives more of a feeling of control. The light weight and the fact that it is wireless contribute even more to this. I also find the Power for All battery system useful - it can be used for Bosch devices but also a number of other brands.

It's a pity that it is not clearly stated what kind of drills are included. None of the included drills turned out to have an SDS-quick connection, so I had to buy additional drills before I could use the hammer drill setting. That won't make you bankrupt, but I would have preferred to know in advance. The second disadvantage is that it does indeed fall over with the quick-release head on it. This makes it difficult to place it in a narrow windowsill, for example, when you unscrew the curtain rails.

I dare not speak for super fanatical handymen, but for people like me, who occasionally want to hang something up, I think this is a great choice!
