The price is hefty, but this is the salvation of a pair of B&W Formation Flex speakers. It is also very easy to connect to it via the app. The tuning to provide the right degree of bass support can also be done very simply via the app, initially but also in the interim if necessary if some music needs just a little more or less bass.

Together with two Formation Flex speakers, which in themselves really lack bass, you get a remarkably mature sound from those small speakers, with a strikingly beautiful and subtle stereo image to which this bass provides a very nice seamless addition.

B&W's mesh for the Formation series also fully delivers on the promise of extra stability compared to many other WiFi speakers. Not a single hiccup, dropout or other sign of WiFi congestion in your area. Other A-brands don't always succeed so well. And AirPlay continues to work if you connect more speakers, the competition does not always succeed in that either.

All in all, a considerable investment with even the cheapest Formation Speakers (Flex x2), but then you also have something: really nicely balanced spatial sound. And where the Bluetooth connection shows a disturbing lag, you have perfectly synchronous sound and image via Airplay.

The only 'problem' is a clear luxury problem, namely that this bass is actually too beautifully designed to be hidden from view as you normally do with a subwoofer. Something for which it is also well suited due to the compact round model that does not detract from the wide, full bass sound due to the double bass radiators. Oh yes, and that price, of course, which even if you don't have to turn every dime twice, is a bit of a swallow...
