According to our printer expert
The Canon PIXMA TS8250 is an all-in-one inkjet printer for demanding hobbyists and photographers. Thanks to 6 individual ink cartridges, including special ink for blue and black, you'll print photos with deep blue and black tones. The printer also supports borderless printing to cover the whole sheet of paper. Insert an SD card in the memory card slot and select the images you want to print directly on the 10.8-inch color touchscreen. You can also use the display to adjust the settings for your scans or copies. The printer has 2 separate paper trays, one for document paper and one for photo paper. This way, the different sheets are kept apart. Do you sometimes print long text documents? Duplex printing will save paper. Use the Canon app for your smartphone and tablet and print straight from the cloud. This way, your prints will be waiting for you when you get home.

After many years my Canon MP980 had given up the ghost. After some searching and reading reviews I went for this printer. This printer is a compact technical marvel. Where the MP980 had to adjust many flaps for other paper or printing a CD, this printer almost completely adjusts itself for what you want to do. Nice, but it does mean that you spend a lot more time on the touchscreen. Just like the MP980, it has 6 separate/different ink cartridges. In addition to the 4 standard (color) cartridges, there is an extra photo in black and a photo in blue (the latter was a gray photo with the mp980). I am very pleased with the print quality. Photos look really good. If I assume that the ink/print will remain just as good as with the MP980, then it's all right. Already showed the prints of this printer to several people and they were all impressed. I think the printer looks nice and sleek, a lot more compact than my MP980. This printer with this design would look great on a desk. I myself have it in a cupboard. Because of this I immediately come to a disadvantage, the flap with the touchscreen is very forward and because it is so low it is difficult to reach it if you want to print a CD, for example. Speaking of CD printing, this printer also does this perfectly. The great thing is that the plate on which you place the CD is stored in the printer after use. No more loose plate at the printer as with the MP980. What I also regret is Canon's mega bundle of software. Everything is in one big program. But much of what is in this program I (prefer) to do with other programs (lightroom) and is unnecessary for me. This mega bundle can also be an advantage for other people. Due to its compact construction, the space in the paper drawer is limited. The installation of the printer was fine, I think most people should be able to do this. Especially if you use the printer via a USB cable. Printing via network and/or bluetooth is also possible with this printer.
Can't say much about ink consumption. I now know that Canon printers (but also those of other brands such as Epson) spray the print head clean when starting up and that the ink can then go hard. I also know that there are printers that still use color if you print a print in black and white. I can't say at the moment how that is with this printer. There are already counterfeit cartridges for this printer, this can be important for some people in their choice. I do know that Epson and HP in some printers update the firmware and give counterfeit patterns in some problems or are blocked. I have no experience with Canon yet and can't find anything about it so quickly. But the fact that they don't now doesn't mean anything about the future.
Great printer, a bit more expensive than the basic printers, but you get very good quality print in return. Now at the time of writing there is a Cashback promotion, €20 return and if you take a set of patterns you can get another €20 return.
Highly recommended.

Bought this printer with good courage because the print head of my previous canon increasingly refused after a number of years of loyal service. Read that this printer would be economical. Not so. An extra color cartridge included. Every time I wanted to print something, there was a problem: Always a color on or almost out, photo paper apparently can't go in the tray, pink haze, changing paper size is cumbersome. Possible solutions for error codes had to be checked with a mobile phone via a QR code and website. Scanning was a lot of research until I found out that only the 'IJ Scan Utility Lite' did what I was used to. And finally insoluble paper jams. Then enough was enough and I kicked it together and threw it in the wheelie bin.

I make my own cards and it works well enough for that.
