According to our alarm clock expert
The Philips Connected Somneo Sleep & Wake-up Light HF3672/01 is much more than a simple alarm clock. This light alarm clock simulates both sunset and sunrise to let you fall asleep as best as possible, and wake you up as calmly as possible. If you have trouble sleeping at night, use the light-controlled relaxation function with breathing exercises. With the SleepMapper app on your phone, you can set multiple alarms and control the radio in your bedroom. Use the app for a longer period of time and monitor developments. You'll see your bedroom's conditions and discover any possible improvements. The lamp has extra sensors that measure your bedroom's temperature, humidity, sound and light intensity.

I always have trouble getting out of bed early. To get a reasonable result, my phone always had to wake me up. With this I started every day on the wrong foot. I had already heard via the internet that light can have a positive influence on your sleep rhythm, making it easier to get up. With this setting I bought this alarm clock. Since I use this alarm clock, waking up and getting out of bed is no longer a super annoying task. I still prefer to lie down for half an hour, but I don't start off on the wrong foot every day and I'm very satisfied with that. This is mainly due to the beautiful colors that the lamp radiates. The light goes very smoothly from super warm white (almost red) to just warm white. This warm white light could have been a bit cooler in my opinion to give that extra boost that you so much need in the morning. Unlike the phillips hue lamps, this lighting can be dimmed to very, very deep. This is really handy for the relaxation feature where a sunset is simulated but you probably haven't fallen asleep yet when "the sun has set." In this case it would be very annoying to be suddenly startled awake by the light that suddenly goes out. In conclusion for the light: It is really beautiful and THE reason to buy this alarm clock. At full brightness it could have been a bit cooler. Although there is a speaker in the alarm clock, I strongly advise against using it. I've never heard such a bad speaker for anything other than Christmas trinkets or cheap children's toys. Both high and low tones cannot be produced and at volumes higher than 1% you can already hear crackling. It's really only acceptable to listen in on the news from the radio when you're up. And since there are so few expansion options for the sounds that are on it, I would only use it for this. There are only 2 natural sounds on the alarm clock. And these are such short walks that you will be tired of them after 2 weeks. I am very sorry that there are no expandability options to use your own music/sounds. I wouldn't even have minded so much if I had to pay phillips extra for the sounds. I know you can use the aux input on the back but the speaker is so bad you might as well use your phone's speaker. That probably sounds better. I find it very unfortunate that there are no expansion options at all in the line of wake lights. You cannot integrate anything with phillips hue. You cannot sync your wakelight with your phone's alarm clock. And there is no synchronization with any of the many open smart systems going around right now. At least not as far as I know. Since the alarm clock is made of white plastic, it also attracts some floating dirt. This is very easy to clean with a cloth due to the smooth surface, so this is not really a big minus. The integrated phone charger is well thought out. Since my phone is normally next to my bed to charge at night. Now 1 less block is needed in the wall that is wasting electricity all day for nothing. The negatives I mentioned were already known before my purchase because of other online reviews. Still I decided to buy this wake light. Because of the beautiful colors and good dimmability, which in my opinion make a wake light, a wake light. In my opinion, this is the only one on the market and I think that is a shame because there are still many points for improvement that can be made.

I wake up more rested, that's what matters to me. The product is recommended but pricey. There are i.v.m. poorer controls and artificial nature sounds do have areas for improvement.

The wake-up light is easy to install. Plug in, select language and you're done. Connecting to the Wi-Fi network took a little longer, but that could also be due to the Wi-Fi itself. Control is also possible by phone, via Phillips' Sleepmapper app, when phone and Somneo are connected to the same network. The app can be used, among other things, to set alarms, simulate the sunset and provide information about the bedroom (amount of Lux, decibels, humidity and temperature). Normal or recommended values are also given from the same measurements from which you can deduce whether your room is too warm or whether the neighbors or housemates are making too much noise. I've had the product for a week now and in that time have used the alarm clock every day, twice relax&breathe via the app and simulated one sunset. The alarm function is what I bought it for and I like it the best. The lamp gradually becomes brighter, from dark red to bright white light. The Somneo is on a shelf above my bed but still gives more than enough light to slowly wake up before the birds start chirping. I haven't tested the radio function (I don't like waking up to radio commercials) but the birds chirp nicely enough for an alarm clock. Don't think I would use the Somneo as a speaker because my computer's are simply better. There is an input for an aux cable on the back, but I haven't used it yet. The USB port ensures that you can also charge your mobile at night without losing a socket to the alarm clock. All in all I am very satisfied with my purchase and since then I wake up a lot better than before with my mobile alarm clock.
