Calculate the charging time
You can easily calculate the charging time with the following formula: divide the battery power by the charging speed of your charging station. Let's say your car has a battery with 55kWh of power and your charging station has a 11kW of power. If you divide 55 by 11, you'll see that an empty battery will be fully charger within 5 hours.
Fuse box and charging speed car
In the end, charging always takes a bit longer. That's because the charging speed depends on more than just your charging station. The properties of your car and the power of your fuse box also affect this. In addition, you don't always charge equally fast. With load balancing, the charging capacity decreases when you switch on your washing machine or dryer, for example. This prevents your fuses from blowing. When it's cold outside, your car also charges less fast.
Regular or fast charging
Whether it's a charging station at home or at a public location on the side of the road also makes a difference. For example, a charging station at home has an 11 to 22kW charging capacity and a fast charger has a charging capacity of 150 to 350kW. That's because you use alternating current at home, while your car uses direct current. A charging station at home has to convert that current, while a fast charger uses direct current. As a result, you can charge your car faster.
