Whisk, knead, and mix with a stand mixer
Get started with your food processor
When you purchase a food processor, accessories are often included. With these 3 accessories, you can best use the food processor.
- Whisk with an egg white whisk
- Knead with a dough blade
- Mix with a cleaver
Whisk with egg white whisker
If you want to whip cream or egg whites, use the egg white whisk. The look of this attachment differs per brand. Sometimes, it's comparable to a whisk as you'd see with a hand mixer, but sometimes this accessory looks more like the blade of your food processor. No matter what they look like, they all do the same. They whisk air into cream and egg whites to make them expand and become stiff. As a result, you can easily make whipped cream or merengue.
Knead with dough blade
Do you want to make your own pie, bread, or pizza dough? It's best to use the dough blade for thick dough. This attachment for your food processor looks like the regular blade, but is slightly wider. This 'stretches' the dough a little in the mixing bowl during kneading. Don't you have a dough blade? You can use the regular blade. If you want to knead heavy dough, check if your food processor has a power of 1000W or more.
Mix with the cleaver
Are you getting started with thin batter, for example for pancakes? Use the cleaver. This attachment is sturdy and you can also use it to chop carrots. With the cleaver, you can also mix thicker batter with a lot of flour, butter, and sugar, or ready made mix. Never use the whisk, because it might get damaged.
