Generally speaking: the higher the power of the food processor, the more easily you can process ingredients. Most food processors in our assortment have a power of 500 and 1000W. Food processors with a power of less than 500W are suitable for chopping an onion, but not hard ingredients like chocolate or nuts. You can even use food processors with more than 1000W for kneading heavy dough, in addition to chopping hard ingredients.
How sturdy does the food processor need to be?
Food processors are made of plastic, aluminum, stainless steel, or metal. The heavier the material of the casing, the sturdier the food processor and the better it stays on your counter during chopping and cutting. Metal food processors are the sturdiest and heaviest. From French fries to potato patties and from carrot julienne to a coarse grate, there's a cutting disc for your food processor for almost anything. So think about what you want to make in advance, and see if the right cutting disc is included by default. That goes for all the food processor accessories.
