What do you need for your Cricut cutting machine?
Materials
To make your projects, you need material. The 3 different cutting machines support different materials. Check if the material is suitable for your cutting machine. You can use the standard materials for all 3 models. Think paper, vinyl, and labels. With the Iron-On, you can use a heat press to transfer your designs to clothes, tote bags, or pillows. Use the Cricut Smart Materials to cut your projects without cutting mat. Smart Materials are available in many different materials like Smart Vinyl, Smart Iron-On, and Smart Paper Sticker Cardstock.
Cutting mats
To safely cut your project, place the material on a cutting mat. Your material stays in place, thanks to the adhesive layer on the mat. There's a special card mat for the Cricut Joy to cut out your cards. Do you have the Cricut Maker or Explore? Use one of the 3 cutting mats that are suitable for these models. These 3 mats all have a different sturdiness for different materials. Do you use Cricut Smart Materials? You don't need a cutting mat. You can feed the Smart Materials into the machine directly and it'll get started.
Tools
It depends on your model which tools are compatible with your cutting machine. For the Cricut Joy, you can use the Circut Joy blade to cut and pens to write. With the transfer foil tool, you can transfer your foil to your project. The Cricut Explore 3 is compatible with 6 tools. These are the scoring stylus to create fold lines, or the Deep Point blade to cut thicker martials. With the Cricut Maker 3, you'll have the most options with the 13 compatible tools. Engrave your name in jewelry with the engraving tool. Or texture a card with the debossing tool.
Hand tools and accessories
After you cut out your design, you can use various hand tools and accessories to finish your project. Remove the material rests with the hand tools. These are a peel hook, scraper, and spatula, for example. With the Cricut EasyPress, you can transfer your designs to your sweater or T-shirt. Use the EasyPress Mini to decorate smaller designs, like shoes and caps. The Cricut Mug Press transfers your design to your mug seamlessly. With these accessories, you can get the most out of your cutting machine.
