What are the pros and cons of a No Frost freezer?

Don't feel like defrosting your freezer every time? A No Frost freezer is a good choice. You usually have to pay a bit more for it, but you'll enjoy the advantages. Read what the pros and cons are in this article.

What's NoFrost?

A freezer with No Frost drains moisture via air circulation. Because of this, the air stays dryer and you won't get any ice buildup. The freezer regularly defrosts the ice and evaporates it. The fan blows the cold dry air back into the freezer compartment. This way, no ice will build up on the freezer interior or the products inside.

Pro: never defrost again

No frost versus no anti-ice buildup

One of the biggest advantages of No Frost, is that you never have to defrost the freezer again. So you won't have to empty the freezer 5 to 6 times a year and remove the ice. That leaves more time for fun activities.

Pro: fresh products

If you place groceries in a freezer with ice buildup, ice crystals will form on them. This changes the flavor and texture of your frozen food. Your ice cream becomes watery instead of creamy. Thanks to No Frost, you won't be bothered by this and can enjoy your ice cream.

Pro: comfort

Due to ice buildup, the drawers will get stuck after a while. In addition, ice will build up on the packaging of your groceries or they'll stick to the back wall. Thanks to No Frost, you won't be bothered by this anymore. You can easily pull out the drawers and see what you need. Easy as that.

Con: more expensive

More expensive purchase

Because of this technology, you pay slightly more for a No Frost freezer. On average, you pay about € 82 more. Don't think No Frost is worth the extra money? There are also freezers with Low Frost. You only have to defrost these models once or twice a year.

Con: not as silent

Not as silent

A No Frost freezer is generally slightly louder than a model without No Frost. That's because of the built-in fan. You'll hear a blowing or buzzing noise. Slightly more expensive models have both No Frost and a low noise level so you're not bothered by it.
