5 tips if your washing machine doesn't pump water
5 tips if you don't get any water
With the 5 tips below, you can make sure your washing machine works again soon.
- Tip 1. Check the supply.
- Tip 2. Check the hoses.
- Tip 3. Reset the washing machine.
- Tip 4. Close the door properly.
- Tip 5. Check the filters.
Tip 1: check the supply
First, check the water pressure of the water supply. Close the faucet, remove the supply hose, and put a bucket underneath the faucet. Fully open the faucet. If everything is in order, there should be 10L water in the bucket in 1 minute. If that's not the case, contact a plumber to check the water pipes.
Tip 2: check the hoses
A washing machine has 2 hoses. There's the supply hose and the drain hose. Check if either hose has a bend and straighten it. This way, the water can flow through the hose more easily. Make sure the drain hose isn't deeper in the drain pipe than 10cm.
Tip 3: reset the washing machine
Remove the connector from the socket and put it back in after 30 minutes. This resets the washing machine. Does your washing machine have a load sensor? With some wash cycles, the appliance first measures the load in the drum, which takes about 2 minutes. Only after these 2 minutes does the water run into the washing machine.
Tip 4: close the door properly
If the door or the washing machine isn't closed properly, the appliance doesn't pump water into the drum. Remove any objects between the door and push the door closed until you hear a click.
Tip 5: check the water inlet filters
Your washing machine has 2 water inlet filters. There's 1 where the water supply and supply hose meet, and 1 where the water supply hose enters the washing machine. After a while, these filters are filled with dirt. Close the water supply and remove the supply hose. Remove the filters and clean them with a brush under the faucet. Gently place the filters back and put the hose back in place.
