6 tips if the temperature of your smart thermostat isn't right
Get started with your smart thermostat
Is your smart thermostat indicating the wrong temperature? Try the following tips:
- Tip 1: let the thermostat learn your habits
- Tip 2: set the temperature manually
- Tip 3: update your thermostat
- Tip 4: check your on/off boiler
- Tip 5: use the right thermostat
- Tip 6: reset your thermostat
Tip 1: let the thermostat learn your habits
A smart thermostat learns from your habits. It remembers when you are and aren't home and adjusts the temperature accordingly, for example. The thermostat does need some time to learn this well, so it's very possible that it won't get the temperature right from the first day. That's because it doesn't know the right temperature yet. Most thermostats take about a week to learn your daily routine.
Tip 2: set the temperature manually
Isn't the thermostat remembering your habits correctly? Set the temperature manually with the help of schedules, for example. You can fill out what temperature it should be at which time. With some thermostats, you can also correct the temperature. You can often do this via the thermostat settings.
Tip 3: update your thermostat
Smart thermostats receive updates regularly. Make sure you've installed the latest updates. These often contain solutions and improvement for your thermostat. You can often find these updates in the setting in the app of your thermostat.
Tip 4: check your on/off boiler
An on/off boiler doesn't quickly switch modes. This way, you make sure the boiler doesn't overload. These boilers wait for the thermostat to indicate that it's half a degree warmer or colder than what you set. Some thermostats only give a signal when the temperature differ by half a degree.
Tip 5: use the right thermostat
Do you have multiple smart thermostats in your house? Make sure you read the temperature from the right thermostat. A smart radiator knob measures the temperature directly next to the radiator. This is often much warmer than the temperature in the rest of your house. Add a smart temperature sensor to also measure and regulate the temperature in other spots, like the living room or bedroom.
Tip 6: reset your thermostat
Is your thermostat still displaying the wrong temperature after all these tips? Reset it completely to the factory settings. How you do this differs per thermostat. Check the manual of the thermostat for this. Note: after resetting the thermostat, you have to set it up all over again.
