Get everything out of your multi-purpose trimmer
Get started with the multi-purpose trimmer
If you want to trim safely and hygienically with a multi-purpose trimmer, follow the steps below.
- Step 1: wash the parts of your body you want to trim.
- Step 2: choose the right attachment.
- Step 3: choose the right shaving length.
- Step 4: trim in and against the direction of the hair growth.
- Step 5: take care of your skin and multi-purpose trimmer.
Step 1: wash the parts of your body you want to trim
If you want to trim your beard, make sure to wash your face and beard with lukewarm water first. If you want to trim the hair on your body or hear as well, wash those parts as well. The warm water softens your skin and hair. It also lifts your hair, which makes it easier to trim. Before you start trimming, dry your hair well.
Step 2: choose the right attachment
A multi-purpose trimmer is an all-in-one trimmer. With the attachments, you can adjust the multi-purpose trimmer to your preferences. If you're going to trim your private parts, we recommend an attachment or comb for the body. This attachment is usually round or small, so you can smoothly trim the most difficult parts without directly touching the skin. If you want to trim your nose hair, attach the round trimmer comb to the trimmer. For contours and eyebrows, use the small trimmer comb, possibly with a separate eyebrow comb.
Step 3: choose the right shaving length
Do you want a close shave? Use the multi-purpose trimmer without a comb attachment or one of less than 0.5mm. For an even smoother result, use a razor blade or shaving attachment. Some multi-purpose trimmers include a shaving attachment. If you want slightly longer hair for a stubble beard, choose a comb attachment with a shaving length between 0.6 and 3mm. For a longer beard or longer body hair, go for a shaving length of 10mm or more.
Step 4: trim in and against the direction of the hair growth
Trim your beard and hair against the direction of the hair growth. You place the multi-purpose trimmer with the teeth upwards on your head or cheek and comb your hair back in the direction of your hair growth. This way, you don't skip a single hair and create an even effect. On your body, tighten the skin and trim in the direction of the hair growth first. Then, trim or shave against the hair growth direction. Use short movements and don't shave 1 spot too often to prevent skin irritation as much as possible.
Step 5: take care of your skin and the multi-purpose trimmer
When you're done, remove any possible comb attachments and wipe or blow the hairs off the multi-purpose trimmer. If your multi-purpose trimmer has a washable head, easily rinse the head under the faucet. If the multi-purpose trimmer is completely water proof, you can also clean the casing easily. Rinse the comb attachments separately. After that, take care of your beard with beard oil. Is you skin sensitive after trimming or shaving? Use a neutral body lotion without too much perfume.
