Descale your Nespresso Lattissima One as soon as it notifies you. This allows you to retain the best coffee flavor, and you extend the lifespan of your machine. This way, you don't give limescale the chance to build up in the pipes of your Nespresso machine. We'll give you a step-by-step explanation on how to descale your machine.

It takes about 20 minutes to descale. We'll go through these steps:

  • Step 1. Empty the container for capsules
  • Step 2. Pour the descaler in the water tank
  • Step 3. Connect the descaling pipe
  • Step 4. Start descaling
  • Step 5. Rinse the machine

You need:

  • 1L container
  • De'Longhi EcoDecalk descaler

As soon as you need to descale your Nespresso, it will notify you. This will happen about 2 times per year. The more often you use the machine, the more often you need to descale it. Use the Nespresso or De'Longhi descaler for this. If you descale your machine, you'll keep the best coffee flavor and your Nespresso lasts longer than if you don't.

Step 1: prepare the descaling

Empty the container for used coffee capsules
  1. The machine will indicate when you need to descale it at the top.
  2. Lift up the handle of the coffee machine and let the last capsule you used fall into the container.
  3. Empty the container with used coffee capsules.
  4. Remove the water tank from your Nespresso.
  5. Fill the water tank with 100ml descaler and 500ml water.

Step 2: connect the descaling pipe

Place the pipe into the connector
  1. Remove the descaling pipe at the back of the machine.
  2. Place the pipe in the connector where you normally put the milk reservoir at the front of the machine.
  3. This way, the machine goes to descaling mode automatically. During the whole process, the orange light on top of the machine blinks.
  4. The espresso button turns white.

Step 3: start descaling

Place a container of at least 1L
  1. Place a container of 1L or larger under the coffee outlet and the descaling pipe.
  2. Press the button for an espresso to start descaling.
  3. When the water tank is empty, the button for an espresso burns.
  4. Empty the container, the capsule container, and the drip tray.

Step 4: rinse the machine

Press the button for an espresso
  1. Rinse the water tank under the faucet and fill it with water up to the maximum level.
  2. Press the button for an espresso to start the rinse.
  3. As soon as the rinse is done, the machine turns off automatically.
  4. Remove the descaling pipe from the machine and place it back behind the water tank.
  5. Empty the drip tray and container and place them back into the machine.
  6. Fill the water tank.
  7. Your Nespresso is ready for use.
