How do you turn off Find My on your Apple device?
Before you return or sell your Apple device, you have to disable 'Find My'. In this article, we'll explain how to do this. We'll also tell you how to do this remotely.
Get started with disabling Find My
With these tips, you can disable Find My iPhone, Find My iPad, or Find My on a different device.

Tip 1: disable Find My directly via the device
Disable on iPhone or iPad
- Go to 'Settings'. Tap your name at the top.
- Tap 'Find My' and either 'Find my iPhone' or 'Find My iPad'.
- Tap the green button behind 'Find My'. Enter your Apple ID password and tap 'Disable' at the top right.
Disable on MacBook and iMac
- Click the Apple logo in the top left corner of the screen. Choose 'System settings'.
- Click your name or Apple ID at the top.
- Go to iCloud and scroll down. Choose 'Show all' in the Apps that use iCloud list.
- Click 'Find My' or 'Options' next to 'Find My'.
- Click 'Disable'.
Tip 2: disable Find My from a different device
Don't have your Apple device anymore? Disable Find My remotely.
- Go to icloud.com/find and log in with your Apple ID.
- If 2-factor authentication is disabled, enter the code that appears on a different Apple device. Click 'Trust'.
- Click 'All Devices' above the map. Click the device you want to delete.
- If you still have data on the device, you have to delete it first. Make sure you have a backup.
- If all data have been deleted, click 'Delete from account'.
- Enter your Apple ID password. The device has now been deleted from 'Find My'.
