How do you resolve error codes on a Whirlpool dishwasher?
Solve Whirlpool error codes
In this article, you'll find the following error codes:
- Error code 3
- Error code H or 6
- Error code 9 or 12
- Error code 15
- Salt indicator
- Rinse aid indicator
Error code 3
Do you see error code 3 on the display, and is the on/off button blinking quickly? Do the following:
- The dishwasher cycle isn't done yet. Wait until it has finished.
- Check if there's a kink in the drain hose, and undo it if this is the case.
- Clean the pipe of the drain of the sink.
- Clean the filter in the dishwasher.
Error code H or 6
If you see error code H or 6, the dishwasher can't get any water. Check if the tap is open and working. Check the supply hose for kinks too, and remove them if present. Check the filter to see if it's blocked and clean it. Did you check everything? Turn off the dishwasher and start a new cycle after a couple of seconds.
Error code 9 or 12
With these error codes, the dishwasher doesn't start or respond. Press and hold the on/off button. After about a minute, turn on the dishwasher again and start a new cycle. Doesn't the error code go away? Unplug the connector from the socket and plug it back in after a minute.
Error code 15
With error code 15, the dishwasher cycle stops earlier than indicated. The drain hose might not be connected properly. Check if the end of the drain hose is set to a proper height. You can find the recommended height in the manual. Check if the water supply is leaking or lets in air as well, and install it correctly.
Salt indicator is on
When this light is on, the salt reservoir of your dishwasher is empty. Refill the salt. Is the light still on after a couple of dishwasher cycles? Adjust the water hardness. Check the manual to read how you can do this.
Rinse aid indicator is on
The rinse aid reservoir is empty when this light is on. Fill the reservoir. After one or multiple dishwasher cycles, this light will turn off again.
