You need:

- 1L container
How often should you replace the water filter?
You replace your water filter every 2 months, or when you coffee machine notifies you. That always depends on the hardness of your tap water, and how many cups of coffee you drink per day.
Step 1: install the water filter
- Rinse the water filter in a glass of water until all air has escaped. Hold the water filter at an angle to let the air bubbles out.
- Click menu, select 'Water filter' and press 'OK' to confirm.
- Select 'New filter' and press 'OK' again to confirm.
- Remove the water tank from the coffee machine and empty it.
- Press the water filter firmly into the water tank and press 'OK' to confirm.
Step 2: rinse the water filter
- Fill the water tank to the 'max' mark with water and press 'OK'.
- Remove the milk reservoir from the left side of the machine.
- Confirm with 'OK'
- Place the water tank back. Confirm with 'OK'.
- Place a 1L container under the outlet system and press 'OK'.
- The filter will now rinse.
- The rinsing stops automatically.
- Now your Siemens EQ500 is ready for use again.
