- Set up the Google Home Mini
- Connect the devices
- Which extra settings do you need?
- Stream to your Chromecast
Step 1: set up the chromecast
Make sure your Chromecast is set up via the Google Home app and connected to the television. Check that the Chromecast isn't just connected to the television, but also to the power grid. That way, you can use the Google Home Mini to turn on the television later on, since the Chromecast will be connected to its own power source. Set up your Netflix account via the Google Home app as well.
Step 2: set up the Google Home Mini
Set up the Google Home Mini by putting the plug in the power socket and open the Google Home app on your smartphone. During the setup process, you can pair the Home Mini with the same room as the one you paired the Chromecast with in the app.
Step 3: connect the Chromecast to the Home Mini
During the setup process, a screen comes up that says 'Enhance your cast devices'. The Chromecast will be included in the options. The Chromecast does need to be turned on at that moment. Select the Chromecast and tap on next.
Step 4: extra settings
Do you want your television to be the standard device for playing videos when you use a Chromecast and Home Mini? In the device settings of the Google Home app, you can set up your standard playback device for video. Choose the name of the TV you've connected via your Chromecast for 'Default TV'.
Step 5: ready to stream
If you've gone through all of the steps above, your Google Chromecast is now connected to your Google Home Mini. You're ready to give voice commands like 'Google, play series X on the TV' and easily stream movies and series this way.
