Fix leak with 5 tips
With the tips below, you can solve your dishwasher leak.
- Tip 1. Replace the trap or the faucet
- Tip 2. Check the supply hose
- Tip 3. Check the drain hose
- Tip 4. Attach the U-bend bracket to the hose
- Tip 5. Buy a Y-piece
Tip 1: replace the trap or the faucet
Does the water leak out near the trap or the faucet? The part is probably broken and needs to be replaced. You can buy these parts at a hardware store.
Tip 2: check the supply hose
Check the supply hose. Do you see any kinks or bends? These may be the reason the dishwasher struggles to pump the water through the hose. Straighten out the hose.
Tip 3: check the drain hose
Detach the drain hose from the drain and check it. Is there something blocking the drain? Remove it and attach the hose again.
Tip 4: attach the U-bend bracket to the hose
A dishwasher includes a plastic U-bend bracket that relieves the pressure from the hose and prevents leaks. Did you remove this part? Attach it to the hose again.
Tip 5: buy a Y-piece
Is the drain hose of the dishwasher connected to the same drain pipe as another appliance, such as a washing machine? One of the hoses might block the other, which is causing the leak. You can solve this by buying a Y-piece and attaching it to the drain pipe.
