How do you connect your washer dryer combination?
Set up washer dryer combination
If you want to connect your washer dryer combination, go through the following 6 steps:
- Step 1: choose the right spot
- Step 2: remove the transit bolts
- Step 3: connect the supply hose
- Step 4: connect the drain hose
- Step 5: connect the washer dryer combination to the socket or the pull switch
- Step 6: level the washer dryer combination
Step 1: choose the right spot
If you place the washer dryer combination in the right spot, you'll experience as little vibrations and noise as possible. It's best to place the appliance on a hard concrete surface. Keep in mind that the washer dryer combination has to be placed near a faucet, drain, and earthed socket as well. You have to place the appliance within 1m distance of these connectors. That way, you'll know for sure the supply hose, drain hose, and power cord are long enough.
Step 2: remove and save the transit bolts
There are transit bolts on the back of a new washer dryer combination. These keep the drum in place during transit. It's important you remove these bolts before you start using the washer dryer combination. In the manual, you can read how to remove the transit bolts from your washer dryer combination. Make sure you save the bolts. That way, you can use them again if you ever have to move the washer dryer combination.
Step 3: connect the supply hose
It's now time to connect the water supply. The connector is located on the back of the washer dryer combination. First, ensure that the supply hose is attached to the washer dryer combination and faucet. Next, tighten the connectors on both sides of the hose securely. Make sure the supply hose doesn't lead vertically downwards where it exits the washer dryer combination. Depending on the location of the faucet, it's important that you run the supply hose to the left or right at an angle.
Step 4: connect the drain hose
Once you've connected the supply hose, it's time to connect the drain hose as well. The drain hose drains the water during the wash cycle and the residual moisture during the dryer cycle. Usually, this hose is already attached to the washer dryer combination. You can use a U-bend bracket to keep the drain hose in place. Next, you connect the end of the hose to a drain. This can be an upright drain pipe or a sink drain. When you connect the hose, make sure the drain is no higher than 1m up. That way, the washer dryer combination won't run into difficulty pumping away the water.
Step 5: connect the washer dryer combination to a power source
Now that you've connected the supply and drain hose, you can plug the washer dryer combination into a socket. To prevent a short circuit, we recommend using an earthed socket. You can recognize this by the metal pins at the top and bottom. Did you place the washer dryer combination in the bathroom or some other humid space? Connect the washer dryer combination to a pull switch. That way, you avoid a short circuit caused by humidity. Contact an electrician to have your washer dryer combination connected to a pull switch.
Step 6: level the washer dryer combination
The final step is to level the washer dryer combination. Start by sliding the appliance into its definitive spot. Place a spirit level on top of the appliance. If you need to adjust the height of the corners, you can turn the legs at the bottom of the appliance. You do sometimes need a wrench for this. Adjust the legs until the washer dryer combination is entirely level.
