Clean washer dryer combination
To make sure your washer dryer combination works well and to prevent bad smells, clean your appliance regularly. We'll give you 5 tips to maintain your washer dryer combination:
- Tip 1: remove limescale
- Tip 2: clean the filter
- Tip 3: clean the cuff
- Tip 4: clean the drum
- Tip 5: remove lint
- Tip 6: unblock the drain
Tip 1: remove limescale
Limescale can damage the washer dryer combination and reduce its lifespan. That's why it's important that you descale the appliance from time to time. To do this, you can do the following:
- Empty the washer dryer combination.
- Fill the detergent drawer with a descaler. You can use the compartment for your normal laundry.
- Run the hot 60°C wash cycle.
- Run the same cycle again to make sure all of the descaler is gone.
Tip 2: clean the filter
There's a filter at the bottom right of the washer dryer combination. This collects grease and dirt, which can produce an odor. To remove the smell, you can clean the filter:
- Put an empty tub under the filter.
- Open the lid and open the filter. Let the water of the washer dryer combination run into the tub.
- Remove all the gray slurry from the filter by rinsing it under the faucet.
- Clean the filter hole in the appliance with a cloth.
- Put the filter back into the washer dryer combination.
Tip 3: clean the cuff
The rubber ring of the washer dryer combination is called the cuff, and it's a common place for dirt. You can easily clean it.
- Get some soapy hot water and a bit of detergent.
- Use a clean cloth and the soap to clean the rubber ring. Use an old toothbrush for stubborn dirt. Check whether there's lint in the notch of the ring to prevent it from ending up with your clean laundry.
- Dry the rubber ring.
Tip 4: clean the drum
The bacteria the grease can result in odors and an unhygienic drum. If you regularly run a hot wash cycle, you can kill the bacteria and you won't be bothered by unpleasant odors. Keep in mind that the bacteria only die in temperatures of 60°C and up.
- Empty the drum of the washer dryer combination.
- Run a hot 90 or 95°C wash cycle.
- Leave the door open after the cycle, so the drum can dry well.
Tip 5: remove lint
When you use a washer dryer combination, you might see lint on your clean laundry. That's because some lint stays behind in the drum after drying. Luckily, that's easy to solve.
- Clean the door cuff after every cycle. This way, you make sure no lint is left behind in the drum.
- Regularly start a cleaning cycle or empty cycle before you wash. This rinses all the lint away before you start washing.
Tip 6: unblock the drain
It's possible that the drain of your washer dryer combination gets clogged. You'll notice this because cycles take longer, or because water remains in the drum. If the drain is blocked, the water doesn't drain properly. You can unblock the drain so you can quickly run a washing and drying cycle again. You can read how you do this in the article below.
You don't clean the lint trap and condenser
A washer dryer combination is a maintenance-friendly appliance. The machine doesn't have a lint trap that you need to empty after every drying cycle. The lint automatically washes away with the residual moisture of your clothes, or with the water of the next washing cycle. Keep in mind that lint could build up in the rubber ring, so you should regularly clean it with a cloth. The condenser automatically cleans with every washer dryer combination. This keeps the machine working efficiently, and you won't have to clean it as much.
