What does the energy label of your washer dryer combination mean?

From 1 March 2021, all washer dryer combinations received a new energy label. These labels show all the information about the energy and water consumption of your washer dryer combination. This includes the load capacity, noise level, and the QR code that redirects you to the technical specifications. In this article, you can read everything on the energy label of your washer dryer combination.

Sections of the energy label

Sections of the energy label

On the energy label of a washer dryer combination, you'll find the following:

  • QR code
  • Energy label washing and drying
  • Energy consumption per 100 wash and dryer cycles
  • Load capacity
  • Water consumption
  • Cycle duration
  • Spinning result
  • Noise level

We'll tell you more about these topics in this article.

QR code on your energy label

QR code

At the top of your energy label, you'll find a QR code. If you scan the code, it redirects you to a website of the European Union. In addition to the information on the energy label, this website provides extra product specifications and icons about the washer dryer combination. You can view test reports and other technical information about the energy consumption, for example. With the QR code, you can find out everything on your washer dryer combination.

Energy label washing and drying

Energy label

You'll see 2 energy labels on the label. The left one indicates how energy-efficient the appliance is during washing and drying. The right one indicates how energy-efficient the appliance is during a single wash cycle. These labels are always based on the ECO 40°C and 60°C wash cycle. The energy labels range from A to G. An appliance isn't energy-efficient if it has a D energy label or higher.

Energy consumption per wash and dryer cycle

Energy consumption

The energy consumption indicates the number of kilowatt hour the appliance uses during washing and drying. On the left side, you can see the number of kilowatt hour per 100 complete cycles. A complete cycle includes both a wash and a dryer cycle. On the right side, you'll see the energy consumption in kilowatt hour per 100 wash cycles.

Load capacity

Load capacity

The load capacity indicates how many clothes you can wash and dry in kilograms. In a washer dryer combination, you always dry less clothes than the maximum load capacity for a wash cycle. Make sure to take some clothes out of the drum when you start a dryer cycle after you've washed a full drum. If you're looking for a new washer dryer combination, check the maximum load capacity for wash cycles. With a 9kg load capacity, you can do the laundry of 5 people.

Water consumption

Water consumption

The water consumption indicates how many liters of water your appliance uses each cycle. On the left side, you'll see the water consumption for washing and drying combined. The right side states the water consumption for wash cycles only.

Cycle duration

Cycle duration

The cycle duration on the energy label of your washer dryer combination indicates how long it takes the appliance to wash a full drum. On the left side, you'll see the total cycle duration of washing and drying combined. The right side states the number of hours and minutes based on the ECO 40°C and 60°C cycles.

Spinning result

Spinning result

The spinning result indicates how dry your laundry comes out of the appliance after the wash cycle. At the end of the wash cycle, the appliance spins your laundry to extract as much water from your clothes as possible. This way, the amount of moisture left in your clothes is as low as possible before you start the dryer cycle.

Noise level

Noise level

The noise level indicates how loud your washer dryer combination is during the spinning. If you're looking for a relatively silent washer dryer combination, a 72dB noise level should be fine. Is your washer dryer combination louder than 72dB? We recommend you place it in a closed laundry room.
