First impression of the JBL Flip 6
The first thing that stands out when I unbox the Flip 6 is the compact size of the speaker. I can easily take it with me from one room to the next, and the speaker easily fits in my backpack. I can even take the speaker with me in my handbag.
JBL Portable App
To adjust the sound settings of the JBL Flip 6 to my taste, I can download the JBL Portable app. There, I can adjust the settings for the bass, mid-range tones, and treble, for example. That's a nice addition, because I can now adjust the sound of the speaker to the genre I listen to. The app also allows me to connect multiple JBL speakers that have PartyBoost. This way, I can enjoy a louder volume.
Powerful and clear sound
Compared to the JBL Flip 5, I think the the of the Flip 6 is a nice improvement. The bass is powerful, but not dominating. The vocals sound bright and clear. This way, I can listen to many different genres like ska, classical, and dubstep. I didn't expect this, because of the size of this compact speaker.
Dust and water-resistant
Thanks to the IP67 certification, the Flip 6 is dust and water-resistant. The Flip 5 has an IPX7 certification, which means that the speaker is only water-resistant. Because the Flip 6 is dust and water-resistant, you can easily take the speaker to the beach.
Conclusion
The Flip 6 is more than a worthy successor to the Flip 5. Thanks to the size, the speaker is easy to take with you. That's nice for on the go or outside. The sound quality isn't affected by the size. The speaker sound powerful and clear, even at louder volumes. via the JBL Portable app, I can adjust the speaker to my taste.
