Choose a JBL Bluetooth speaker

The speakers from JBL all look alike, but there are a couple of big differences, like the size. To choose the right speaker, it's important that you ask yourself what you want to use the speaker for.

  • Do you often want take the speaker with you?
  • Do you mostly use the speaker at home?
  • Do you find good sound quality important?

Mini

You can easily take the JBL Clip 5 with you

Easy to take with you

The mini models from JBL are the JBL Go and the JBL Clip. Because of their small size and light weight, you can easily take these speakers with you. They even fit in your pocket. The Go model is the smallest of the speakers, which is 7.5x9cm. Then there's the Clip, with a 9x13.5cm size. Both weigh about 200g, so you hardly feel them in your pocket. The Clip even has a built-in carabiner you can use to attach it to your bag.

Room-filling sound

The sound quality of the speakers is a little bit better than the sound from your phone, but it doesn't fill the room. With their IP67 certification, both speakers are dustproof and water-resistant. The battery of the Go lasts 5 hours, while the Clip has a 10-hour battery life.

Medium

The Charge 5 easily fits in your hand.

Good to take with you

The JBL Flip and the JBL Charge are medium JBL models. When it comes to size, these models differ a bit. The Flip is 18x7.5m, so it's a bit smaller than the 22x9cm Charge. The Flip weighs a little over 500g, while the Charge weighs almost 1kg. So the Flip is easier to take with you, but the Charge also fits in your bag easily.

Room-filling sound

The sound of the Flip is detailed, and the Charge has a strong bass. Both speakers have a high enough volume to fill your living room. The volume doesn't go high enough to hear over murmurs at a party. The Charge has a 20-hour battery life, which is a lot more than the 12-hour battery life of the Flip. In addition, you can charge your phone with the Charge thanks to the charger function.

Large

The JBL Xtreme 4

Less easy to take with you

The JBL Xtreme and the JBL Boombox belong to this category. The Xtreme is 30x13cm and the Boombox 48x25.5cm. These 2 speakers aren't lightweight. That's because the Xtreme weighs 2kg and the Boombox weighs 6.7kg. This means they're less easy to take with you.

The JBL Xtreme and the JBL Boombox

Powerful sound

The sound quality of the Xtreme and Boombox is similar, but the bass of the Boombox is much deeper. Both speakers are suitable for a party or large space, such as a sports canteen. The 2 speakers also have a powerful battery. You can enjoy your favorite music for up to 15 hours with the Xtreme. And with the Boombox, that's 24 hours.
