First impression of the Apple iPad Mini 6
The box includes a USB-C cable, a 20W USB-C adapter, a manual, and of course the iPad Mini 6. When I take the iPad out of the box, I notice its look right away. The device has thin bezels and doesn't have a home button. It also has a USB-C port, so you can easily connect external devices like a screen.
New design
The iPad Mini 5 is available in a WiFi and in a WiFi + 4G version. The new model also supports 5G. If you get a SIM card with a mobile data plan, you can stay online everywhere via this fast network. I unlock the tablet with Touch ID via the on/off button. This used to be via the home button. Apple released the Mini 6 in 4 colors, Space Gray, White Gold, Purple, and Pink.
Compact and light
The Mini 6 is a compact and lightweight tablet. With 8.3 inches, the screen of the tablet is slightly larger than the average smartphone. The home button is gone and it has thinner bezels. This makes the screen larger than that of the iPad Mini 5, but the device itself has the same size. The new design is a nice improvement. The Mini 6 also has a bright Liquid Retina display, which makes the colors stand out when I'm watching a series.
Extremely fast
I notice right away that the iPad Mini 6 has the fast A15 processor. When I open an app, it boots in no time. Multitasking isn't a problem either, because I can easily switch between different apps. This processor also runs more demanding apps like Adobe and more demanding 3D games. This is a big advantage, in my opinion. The Mini 6 is small, but that definitely doesn't affect the performance.
Compatible with the Apple Pencil 2
A nice improvement is the compatibility with the Apple Pencil 2. You could already use the Mini 5 with the 1st generation Apple Pencil, but you have even more options with the new stylus. I can switch between tools while I'm sketching by double-tapping the Apple Pencil 2. I can charge the pencil by attaching it to the side of the tablet.
Conclusion
The iPad Mini 6 is a good choice if you're looking for a small tablet without compromising on quality and speed. The combination of the 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and powerful A15 processor ensures that the Mini 6 doesn't fall short in terms of power and speed compared to larger tablets. If you often work on your tablet, a different iPad model with a larger screen is more suitable for you.
