Everything on the DJI Mavic 3
DJI Mavic 3 no longer available
DJI has released the Mavic 3 Pro as the successor to the Mavic 3. This drone has 3 cameras, which allows you to capture both wide landscapes and small details.
Review of the DJI Mavic 3
Vlogger Martijn has tested the DJI Mavic 3 and they'll tell you everything about it in this review. They'll assess the image quality, show the difference between the 2 cameras, and test the flight time. They'll also tell you about the differences between the Mavic 3, the Mavic 3 Fly More Combo, and the Mavic 3 Cine Combo.
Hasselblad camera
The DJI Mavic 3 has a large 4/3-inch sensor. DJI hasn't announced a drone with such a large sensor before. Thanks to this sensor in combination with the Hasselblad camera, you can record in 5K resolution, and you'll have a dynamic 12.8-stop range. This way, you'll see many details in dark shadows or highlights. You can also take sharp 21-megapixel photos and 100-megapixel panorama photos with this drone. The aperture is adjustable from f/2.8 to f/11. This way, you have control over the brightness and depth of field in your images.
Long 46-minute flight time
The capacity of the battery expanded a lot. With the Mavic 3, you can fly for up to 46 minutes in ideal circumstances. With the improved wind speed resistance of 12m/s, the drone can handle strong gusts of wind better. This contributes to a longer battery life. Keep in min that the battery drains faster in strong winds. Thanks to the long flight time, you don't have to land your drone as often to replace the battery.
Professional videos in 10 bit
For professional videographers, the Mavic 3 is an interesting drone. That's because it has a 10-bit color space, which means the camera displays a lot of color. This way, all the shades of red during a sundown blend nicely. Keep in mind that images are compressed to 8 bits on social media, so the differences aren't as visible there. You benefit most from the 10-bit color space is you play the footage on a 4K screen, for example.
Telephoto camera with 28x zoom
With the Explore Mode of the telephoto camera, you can zoom in on subject over which you fly. The camera has a 28x zoom. This means that you can zoom in up to a focal length of at least 162mm. This way, you can bring subjects nicely in frame. For example, record wild animals without disturbing their habitat. Because you can bring them close from afar, they won't hear your drone flying. You can also easily search an area with this zoom function.
360-degree obstacle detection
During your flight, the Mavic 3 detects obstacles in 360 degrees. This is the first DJI drone that has obstacle detection in all directions. This way, you reduce the risk of flying into something. The obstacle detection makes sure you have a safe flight in areas with many trees, houses, or other objects. If the drone detects an object during your flight and recordings, it'll smoothly avoid it. This way, you won't have any interruptions in your videos.
Cine Combo
For professional videographers, DJI releases a Cine Combo version of the Mavic 3. This drone has a large 1TB internal memory, so you can record videos for hours. This model supports the Apple ProRes 422 HQ video format, which means that it records in high quality while the file size stays small. With the Cine Combo, you'll get a remote with a large display and ND filters. With the ND filters, you'll have more control over the lighting of your video.
